"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
I lurk on this board, so I hope you don't mind me posting.
I don't know what your dr wrote, but I'm assuming it's a benzodiazepine, since they're addictive.
The thing about benzos is that they're meant for short term use only, so it's a short term fix for what is often a long term problem.
Cognitive behavior therapy can be extremely effective for anxiety, and the medications used to treat anxiety long term are antidepressants, which aren't addictive. CBT is generally considered the best treatment for anxiety, but many people also take antidepressants along with the therapy.
Since your job is causing situational anxiety, finding a new job may be all it takes to deal with your anxiety. But if it hangs around anyway, there are good options that aren't addictive.

I'm glad you're changing the job situation, I hope that takes away the anxiety for you. You mentioned you're on an AD, so if the anxiety doesn't go down would you be able to alter that to one that helps with anxiety? That way it might be calmed down enough you have to need to reach for those benzos. I also strongly recommend individual therapy if you need. Hopefully the job change will take care of it though!
