Isn't there a "if they float they're good" thing? I would try that. I've pushed it with the date with eggs and it never made me sick, sooo... Don't ask Nugget about this, though.

If they float, they're bad. If they rest at the bottom or tilt, they're fine.

I heard on the radio that they are still OK 5 weeks after the sell by date. I would still do the float test.

I've done the float test around that time and they were still good.  Eggs last a LONG time!

We don't keep the cartons so I'm pretty sure I have eaten eggs much much older than that.

Yes, eggs are good for several weeks past their sell by date.  I am a Dairy Manager at a grocery store and I always tell people to use this trick if they are unsure about them.  It works like a charm.

If the eggs are in our fridge, we eat them. Never had an issue yet. And we don't eat eggs too often.

Yes. Eggs are good for longer than a month. H is weird about best buy/expirations dates so in reality I only do so if I can sneak it past him. Usually I'm too lazy to do that though.

And also, HIGHLIGHT, just in case you weren't aware, hardboiled eggs peel so much better, the older they are. So it's almost like you did it on purpose?
