In addition to reading, what other hobbies do you enjoy?
I like to bake, and knit (although I'm not the best at either, and need to practice more).
One of my goals this year is to learn to use the sewing machine I got last Christmas.
I guess they're not really a hobby, but I also keep busy taking care of my three bunnies, Hef, Holly and Jude. They're totally spoiled, and a lot of fun
I love to cook, and now that I have time, I am really enjoyed experimenting with yeast breads.
I also do felt applique embroidery. And when my budget allows for it, I take cruises.
I'm a cruise enthusiast, too. Definitely calling it a hobby from now on. I say it's the best way to travel when you don't want to actually see anything. DH and I try to cruise every year. That's why we'll never be able to buy a house, but who needs a house when you can travel?

I think I might be cruising to Alaska next year. Ever been?
My hobbies are hiking/urban exploration and craft beer tasting and brewing. Well... I've only brewed one batch of beer. But it turned out well!
I'm also a vegetarian, and I love to cook. It's probably just a littttttle more experimental! My husband is an omnivore, but we eat vegetarian at home. He's awesome about trying new things.
I learned to knit a few years ago and though I'm still not very good at it I do really enjoy it. I also started to run last year and I really enjoy that. But honestly, aside from reading I probably spend the most time watching tv. I really love the pop culture aspect of it and like to follow the entertainment blogs about what shows are doing good, what's going to be cancelled, etc.

I have gotten out of the habit of most of my hobbies, but I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Right now I am focusing on reading and piano, but once I get my flute (my usual main instrument) repaired I will start with that and hopefully throw in some writing as well. I have started to cook a lot more over the past year, but baking is what I really love. I am also into language and have been studying Spanish for about 5 years. Once I am a bit better at that I'd like to add French or Arabic to the list.
Basically, I have too any hobbies to choose from so I end up doing none of them if I don't make a conscious effort to do them all.

I took a longer than 7-day cruise a year every year until 2011, when I moved to Australia. Unfortunately, the move ate my cruising budget, so I am having to build it up again. But I cannot wait until I can afford my annual escape from reality again.
I agree, I do not need to own a house, but my annual cruise is a necessity.

Thread-jacking: I've never cruised Alaska but I have taken the state ferry through the Inside Passage (Haines to Prince Rupert, BC). It's stunningly gorgeous and you won't regret it.

We haven't done Alaska, but it's a real possibility for next year! The typical Caribbean trip is awesome of course, but I really loved our Canadian trip a few years ago. We left from NY and cruised around Nova Scotia. Really beautiful.

Canada/New England is my favourite cruise itinerary. I have done it 5 times -- both northbound from Ft. Lauderdale or Boston and southbound from Montreal or Quebec. The best cruise was one that went to St. John's, Newfoundland. We were there in June and there were still icebergs in the harbour. But if I had to pick one itinerary to do for the rest of my cruising life, it would be the Canada/New England route.
I take horse back riding lessons. I also like photography. My mother in law bought me some yarn and knitting needles so I'm just learning to knit. I'm knitting something that looks like a rug, I guess. I think it will be a dog blanket.
Cooking, graphic/interior design (also part of my job, not sure if that counts), movies, our dogs. Although just about everything is taking a back seat to grad school right now- but only for 3 more months!

I would love that one too! My dad is now doing a cruise every year, and last year and this year he did Caribbean. Next year he wants to do Alaska, and since I live on the west coast, he thinks my H and I should meet up with him (and his girlfriend and my aunt) in Seattle.
Eventually my husband and I might move to New England (where he's from) and I'd love to do a cruise out of NY or Boston in the fall. Our anniversary is in October, which would be perfect. I'm not totally into beaches/warmer weather, which is why I think both Alaska and New England/Canada would rock!
