My dog unfortunately has fleas, and yesterday I gave her a second application of Frontline. It seems like that just made the fleas horny, because she was scratching all night. I hardly got any sleep because all I kept hearing was scratch scratch scratch.
Also it's cold and windy today, and I have errands to do. I hate when it's windy because I have dry eyes and it really irritates them .
((@moonbeam)) fleas suck! I've only had to deal with them once with a foster dog before and after the first treatment all seemed ok. (We did give a second dose just in case of course) I hope that the second treatment helps.
I'm worried about one of my kitties. Last night we noticed that his one eye has been really watery and he won't really open it. He keeps rubbing at it too. He's been so calm today/last night, which has been nice, but it's not like him. He's pretty much been laying on the computer chair or in a random box all morning. I don't really have time to take him to the vet today because I have to work soon and H is out hunting. I just hope it either clears up on its own or is something that can wait. My best guess is that the other cat got him in the eye (they play fight pretty rough sometimes) but I don't know. I just hate seeing him miserable
We might still do a game night tonight (mentioned yesterday that the hosts just had a baby). It's the dad's birthday and apparently the mom got a babysitter for the older kid and is kicking dad out of the house so she can sleep and be with new baby, haha. So we might just do it at another friend's place. Yay for something to do!
estrellita Sorry your kitty isn't feeling well right now. He might have a small scratch. Dogs and cats have pretty thick corneas, so hopefully it clears up on its own. The vet would probably prescribe an antibiotic drop to help it heal, if you take him in.
Thanks @moonbeam. I'm thinking if it's not improving by tomorrow I will take him in (our vet is open on weekends, actually the reason we went to this one, other cat had a urinary blockage on a Sunday a couple years ago). It seems less watery today but I'll keep checking on him until I go to work. Hope the fleas clear up soon for your dog!
I need to shop for mine too.. I know what I want to get but idk where around here I can get what I'm thinking of. May have to make a trip down to my parents..
@moonbeam, you need to get some capstar. I can't remember if it is sold over the counter at pet stores or not, we always called in to our vet to get some. It will kill the existing fleas on your dog within 30 minutes.
I used to give the capstar and stick my dog in his crate outside, while I was treating my house--flea powder everywhere, vacuuming, washing what I could. It usually worked. Then my dog got a bath after the capstar had a chance to work.
This is an as needed drug, not a maintenance monthly medication.
I just wrote a list of what I would like to buy for my secret santa!
DH was suppose to take me out for lunch today but he is still in bed with a migraine. Then a few minutes ago we were invited to a birthday party tonight. We want to go but it depends on DH's headache. I may go without him if he doesn't feel better. I will feel bad but I need to get out of the house.
pooh8402 I actually got Capstar yesterday! I bought a 6-pack of tablets at Petsmart in their flea and tick section. Today she got her first pill. Still scratching but much less. In the meantime I'm vacuuming and washing anything she touched. What is the flea powder you used? Also, did you use any special shampoo?

I used some natural flea powder, smells like cloves, sprinkled all over my house and my couch and stuff. It's supposed to be a deterrent for fleas. Can't recall the name. No special shampoo.
I went down for a nap at 1:30. The Aggie game kicked off at Auburn at 2:30, the one we were supposed to go to, but canceled due to my health. I woke up a little after 4. I walked out to the living room, and said we must be winning for y'all to not wake me up. We were. So while I was in there, we blocked a field goal and ran it back for a touchdown, so I was allowed to stay and watch. It was the end of the first half at the time. DH tells me that they forgot to wake me up at first, then e had scored 14 points right off the bat, so they let me sleep. Well, we missed a tackle at the start of the second half, so back in the bedroom I go. DH even called in here a few minutes ago, "doing good honey, stay where you are!"
estrellita poor kitty! I hope it's nothing and he feels better soon!
I'm so excited bc Target almost has all of their Xmas stuff out!! I love it, all of it! I do a fun Elf on the Shelf "welcome" breakfast the day after TG, and I love buying all the cute little candies and tchohtkis.

Thanks for the info! I will have to pick up some flea powder.
