H is in the Guard. He did 5 yrs in the USMC and gets 10 percent disability from the VA. He's on drill and texted me letting me know that he can no longer run the pft but has to walk. This also means he can't deploy.
I'm freaking out. How bad is this? When his contract is up in a few years can they kick him out?

Is there an option to do that portion on a cycle machine? DH is a different branch but some commands allow that portion to be done on the cycle instead of running because running is so high impact.

Thanks ladies. The biggest mistake we made was not re-enlisting in the USMC. At least we knew what to expect there. This reservist stuff throws me for a loop.
It's not that bad. Walking profiles are pretty common in the ARNG. As long as he passes an APFT the chances of them kicking him out when his contract is up are slim. They are reducing forces but they are going to do everything they can to keep good Soldiers. Hell my old 1SG had a walking profile.
Also, side note, if he gets activated, make sure be notifies the VA. He can't double dip while on orders more than 15 days. I think it's 15, I will double check though.

It's just another way. It confuses me too. I understood the active duty way so well after being with MH for so long (plus I originally wanted to be a jar).
I asked BLT on FB to come and try and help you guys out.
