My girls just turned 8 mos. We have a lot of toys from my son who is 29mos so we aren't getting too much. I have been buying stuff for the kids as I find it on clearance so I don't remember all of it. But I know:
FP laugh and learn tea set M&D puzzles board books Tegu blocks
My mom is getting them each a doll
I will probably ask other people to get the kids an experience gift like renewing our zoo membership.
I honestly don't know. We've never had to fly presents home before so I'm stumped. I don't want to buy stuff here because it's either overpriced or crappy quality. But I don't want to fill up my precious suitcase space with stuff we don't need when I could fill it up with chai tea and cheeze-its.
I will get play dough and books though, I know that. And jeans. I don't like the ones I got early over the summer.

Are you coming back for the holidays, or would it be easier to have people ship stuff to you?

I'm coming back. I'd prefer shipping to me but that's expensive so I feel bad. :S

Hmmm.....I wonder if this wouldn't be a good opportunity to get creative though. Maybe do things that are more "experience" based that you could do locally. Does that make sense?
Truth be told, this is kinda where I am for my own kids right now going forward. We've got so much crap! So I'm thinking for next year doing things like lessons, or a show, or whatever. But I'm sure this poses logistical differences for you as well.
My two want Legos and not the small sets. They want the Death Star Lego set. It's about $300... Not going to happen unless I hit the jackpot at the Lego Store on Black Friday. Last year they gave people a scratch off thing that would give people discounts off if the items. I had gotten a free item up to a specific amount. Some got higher amounts. Otherwise they ate getting smaller sets for around $100... That and a small trampoline in hopes the one kid will stop bouncing everywhere.
Ours will turn one on Christmas, so, we have Christmas and birthday to plan for! I think we're going to get a Lego table, some of those big duplo Legos and I have a huge stuffed moose in our basement I think I'll bring up as a gift. Haha. Their favorite thing in the whole world, aside from eating, is to chase a ball around the house, so I don't think we will go too big this year.

Our kiddos' first birthday was Friday and this weekend has been full of parties and gifts. So I don't think we'll go big for Xmas.
Right now I'm thinking we'll get each of them an Everywhere Chair. Well, we'll actually get them an Uglywhere Chair since it's basically the same but cheaper.

I've been considering the anywhere chairs too, but I don't know if my guys will like them. Mine aren't walking yet, so maybe that's why I'm hesitant? Are yours walking yet? Do they seem interested in sitting in chairs/couch?

I really do need to research this. I don't know of any extra classes or groups but I'm sure there are some here. I just need to figure that out. There are some play places I know of that someone could phony up some gift certs for.

Mine aren't walking, but they so like to try and climb on chairs. I do think they'd like the chairs so I figured I'd splurge.

My twins are still in utero, and I am hoping they hold off until after Christmas to be born. Cause they are not on my gift list My 7yo DD hasn't really asked for any BIG item yet. So I have been getting smaller things here and there (she also has a birthday after Thanksgiving). So far I have some American Girl accessories I got cheap from some Today show deal, Anna and Elsa barbie sized dolls, Playmobile Advent calendar, thinking of adding a spirograph or fashion plates. Perhaps another lego friend set.

DD has an anywhere chair, I used it a lot when we would play on the floor. But due to her personality type, she does everything but sit on the darn thing. It is flipped over, climbed on, hidden under, bounced upon, etc. So when she asked for a bean bag chair last year I laughed at her. The girl who does not sit does not need new seats!

My boys will be eleven months and they will probably love the box the toys come in more than anything. They like sensory balls (bouncy balls with little grippers) so we'll get more of those. I'm also considering a push walker. My mom's going to get them a wagon for them to ride in, and I'm so excited about the wagon than for the presents we're going to get them!

That's nice - wagons are expensive! At least the ones I looked at are. I was shocked.

They really are, even those with plastic wheels! Grandma's coming to the rescue on this one.

My boys wouldn't sit in small chairs for very long but they LOVED bean bag chairs. Not so much for sitting peacefully though
My boys are 4.5 - they're getting: * remote control monster trucks (these are the big ticket items) * big wooden train set * binoculars (separate sets) * some dress up clothes * books
And then some smaller items for stockings, maybe just one little Lego set each and an edible treat.
Plus whatever their grandparents get them - they're the only grandchildren on my side, so they get spoiled at Christmas.
Edited to fix wonky formatting, no idea what happened there!
Good question, I am trying to come up with ideas. Mine will be 7 weeks for Christmas.
So far I'm planning to get them the Zutano booties and hats and 1st christmas ornaments. DH thinks we should get them toys, but they haven't even played with any of the toys they have so far. So I might get a toy or two and perhaps high chairs or space save chairs for when they need them.
We are trying to think small this year with anticipation of moving in the early spring. Less stuff to pack plus our house now is way too small for big toys.
Mine are 2.5.
So far I've bought a few Alex brand toys, a car play mat for DS, and a fire truck for DS. DD said she wants a baby doll, even though she has two already.
I'm telling family books, clothes, and money if they need more ideas.
My triplets are 3 Magnatiles - shared present some truck/car stuff for DS a toy Dyson vacuum and broom/dustpan for the girls (which sounds so sexist lol but they love to help clean!) some Doc McStuffins stuff for the girls
I may need to pick up one more toy each for the girls because I think I got DS more so far.
Mine will be 10 weeks at Christmas. I might get a couple things for their stockings (I bought nice ones with our names from PB). But no actual gifts for them since they're just babies and pretty much have everything they need. I did buy a TON of clothes on black Friday since I didn't know genders before birth but they are already put away.
I always forget about this board. My boys will be 18m on Christmas. They are getting a toy vacuum because they won't leave mine alone. One is getting an Elmo doll and the other a blanket (from their sister). They are also getting blocks and the Playskool skyway thing from their grandparents.

Did you get your kiddos the anywhere chair? Do they like it? I ended up snagging a floor sample for 40% off for their birthday and it was, by far, the biggest hit of everything!! Haha. So much so, I'll be eyeing the sales to get another one! All they do is squeal and laugh climbing ALL over it.

We didn't - we were too lazy! I went to get order the Uglywhere chair and they didn't have any styles I liked. We might do it in early 2015 though.
