Hi everyone, I'm hoping to make the official jump over here soon but am looking for some opinions of my betas. (Back story is that my RE's office is terrible with communication partially because their office is way to overwhelmed).
I had my first beta on 11/12 (14dpiui) and it was 39. Second beta was today (18dpiui) and it was 260. Using the beta calculator that puts my doubling time at 34.34 hours.
My nurse said that my numbers are really low and doesn't know how to proceed because of how low they are. I have a call with the RE in the am but am hoping some of the grads might have some input.
with a 36 hour doubling time, and your 236 beta on 18dpiui, you seem to be fine, at least according to betabase.info. I don't think your numbers are abysmal or anything like your doomsday nurse seemed to be saying. why would she say that?
I hope you're able to speak with the RE in the morning and get some reassurance. and possibly a 3rd beta to check the trend. coribelle26 had some low betas on her first two, and the 3rd jumped and she's having a healthy pregnancy.
the important thing is that the numbers are rising, and appropriately.
edit: your numbers are actually doubling faster than mine. between my first and second beta, doubling time was 39 hours. and between my second and third betas, doubling time was 44 hours.

Pooh is absolutely right. Now, I got pregnant on a Clomid cycle with TI so I can't be 100% sure how many DPO I was, but somewhere in the ballpark of about 12 DPO my first beta was 17. SEVENTEEN. (The only reason I was even in for a beta is that I had a faint positive on a FRER and I was hyper vigilant about knowing early because I needed progesterone supplementation as soon as I got a BFP.) Anyway 48 hours later my second beta was 25 and I thought for sure it was a CP. The next one about 60 hours or so after that was in the 80s, and then it started rising normally (but still on the slow side of normal). I'm just about 21 weeks along now.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you, and I sincerely hope they intend to do a third draw because it's so hard to get enough info out of only two. Good luck and I hope those numbers keep climbing!

Thanks ladies. I was insanely nervous about the 39 so I spent a lot of time online looking at charts so when she called with 260 I was really happy. We already had a 3rd beta ordered so I've got that on Thursday but the nurse said that might not be my RE's plan anymore because they're so low. Tomorrow can't come soon enough.
What the hell does she mean, low? Those are higher than my numbers on my now 2 year old and essentially the exact same as the one sleeping in my arms right now. Those aren't too low, and the doubling time is just fine. I hate it when they scare you for no reason. I hope the third draw gives everyone some comfort.
I would ask for a third beta, just to be sure, but they look fine to me. Doubling in 34 hours is really good! My first beta with this pregnancy was 80 at 8dp5dt (13dpo) and it was 230 at 10dp5dt (15dpo), so your numbers seem right on to me. Even if your initial number was low, what matters is how they double.
I don't know why your nurse is saying they are low, but hopefully your RE can give you some reassurance tomorrow. They should be able to get you in for an ultrasound around 6 weeks and that will be even more reassuring

I'm really confused by your nurse's response. The numbers have to start somewhere, and they are not only going up, but doubling quickly. I'm sorry she's stressing you out, because I really think you are fine.
Numbers can be low. They just need to double every 48-72 hours, and you are doing even better than that. My RE said he wasn't even that picky about doubling time long as they were rising. I am mad at that nurse for stressing you out!
My first beta was 34 and the nurse told me it was low and that I needed to have it redrawn. I'm now 33 weeks. I don't think your betas show anything to be worried about because your doubling time is perfectly normal. The doubling time is what really matters, not the actual number. So congrats!

Got to talk to RE's lead nurse this morning and she apologized up and down and told me the other nurse was completely out of line and just plain wrong about her comments. RE said the doubling time looked fantastic and they bumped beta #3 up to tomorrow and if everything looks alright we have our first u/s to confirm embryo placement (I've got tubal dilation so have an increased ectopic risk). Phew, I feel so much better now. Thanks for all your words of encouragement.
Yay for the update!! My original beta was 37, so I was another slow starter. I'm glad you will be getting out of there soon and won't have to deal with that nurse anymore!
my first beta was 41 at 14DPO, my 2nd (48 hours later) was 96, then it jumped to 796. I would say your betas sounds great! Good luck at your first U/S.
Still waiting. As of an hour and half ago, they didn't have the result yet and I've got meetings the rest of the afternoon so I asked them to leave it on my voice mail. I'll update as soon as I know

Finally talked to RE this morning and got results. It went from 260 to 719 for a doubling time of 32.71 hours!! Today's a big loss milestone for me so that was a huge relief. Can't wait for Fridays ultrasound!
