I'm sure this has been asked before, but what cat litter do you use. I'm really looking for something that is scoopable, non dusty/tracking, and controls odor well. So far I've found either or. One controls odor but is super dusty and tracks terribly. The other is not dusty but doesn't do well with the odor. Thanks!
Cedarific. It's not clumpable, you have to change the whole thing weekly to get out the urine. But, it smells AMAZING and isn't dusty at all. It's made from cedar shavings (obviously).
I can't do the normal clay litter or whatever it's made of. The smell of it gives me a headache and the dust drives me up the wall.
I mix two clumping litters. One is Arm and Hammer unscented and a cheap brand from Costco. The Costco one is dusty and mixing it w/Arm and Hammer keeps the dust under control.
I use the Breeze litterbox system- the pellets are large and hard so they are hard to track or kick out of the box, and the pee pad underneath the box holds in odor very well. Some cats might not like the feel of the litter, but it is perfect for my 2 cats in a tiny apartment.

my friend just showed me hers & I love the idea. Is it pricey to maintain? Like are the pads underneath expensive to replace or do you have to replace the 'litter'?
I love it! It is slightly more expensive than regular litter, but so worth it to me. It is SO easy to maintain: I just scoop out poop daily, and replace the pee pad about every 7 days (they recommend more often, but I found with my 2 cats it lasts a long time especially if I rotate it). Then I replace the pellets whenever they're getting low or too dirty, about every 45 days.
The pellets and pads are literally double the price in-store what they are even in the same store's website (especially at Petco). A pack of 4 pads is ~$6 and pellets are ~$9 online, and you can save a little more buying bulk. So $12-15 monthly, and ~$30 up front for the box that comes with a bag of pellets and pack of pads.
We use pine litter. Usually EquisiCat, sometimes Feline Pine. I believe there is a scoopable version. There is no dust and I prefer the pine smell.
We LOVE the EquisiCat pine litter also! A few years ago, we used a clumping litter (Arm & Hammer or something similar) and our cat hat an asthma attack. The vet thought it could have been from the dust. We had also noticed he'd always been a little wheezy. We switched to the pine litter and it has made a world of difference. The smell is so much better too.

The World's Best Cat Litter. It's made of corn. Clumps well, doesn't smell, doesn't track excessively.
My older cat died in May, and I'm with kittens again right now, so I can't use clumpable litter. I cannot wait to get back to using World's Best. This stuff stinks so bad. I tried using one of the pine litters at first and at least one of them didn't like it, and went potty outside the box, so I had to switch back to one of the clay-based ones that look more like sand.

Tidy cats Small spaces. I hate how scented it is, but it's the most mild scent we have found. Tried and failed with the wheat litter. Our male cat has a fondness for baked goods and kept eating it since it smelled like the bread we would hide away from him :/
We tried using a corn based one and my cats refused to go in the box with a little in it. We've been using Arm and Hammer mixed with Boots and Barkley. We are trying to get them on Arm and Hammer completely.
Thanks for all the input. Pet Smart has the Breeze system on sale so I bought it today, and one my cats have already used it. Fingers crossed that this will be a winner. It had tons of great reviews online, and the clerk spent 5 minutes raving to me about it.
I switched from Fresh Step Extreme Odor Control to the Breeze system about a month ago. My biggest problem is that the poop smells so bed since there isn't really any odor control. I'm reaching the point of considering returning to my old litter boxes. My cats took to the breeze boxes fine, but the hall bathroom smells so bad now. I scoop everyday. Maybe I need to change the pad more frequently.
