We want to do a mural on our nursery wall (again) but this time it is a bit more complicated. We were hoping to use paintable wall paper, paint it as needed, cut it up into smaller pieces and use the pieces to make the mural.
Think it will work? Will it peel because it is small pieces?
A friend of mine used seed packets to make a border in her sun room. She suckered me into helping her. To prevent the (empty) packets from peeling, we burnished each packet with a plastic putty knife. Once they were all up, we rolled on a clear shellac with a matte finish. A similar technique should work for you.

I briefly considered using fabric and liquid starch to make wall decals for our nursery. Figured it would be an easy and temporary project. But I was just considering clouds, a very simple silhouette. It would get fussy if you wanted something more intricate. Also if you paint the wall paper then try to apply it, I wonder what the paste would do to the painted surface. I think painting on the wall would just be way easier.
Thanks guys…DH is worried he won't be able to pull off this mural like he did the last one. The last one was Dr. Seuss themed and he found it fairly easy to do. This time it will be Eric Carle and he isn't as confident, lol. We might end up just doing decals that we can buy (even though it won't look quite like I had hoped) because it will be easier. And lets be honest, the 2nd kid always gets less than #1, right?
