I've spent the last 2 hours holding down a screaming DD and she still won't nurse and won't sleep. Does it make me a bad mom that I'm seriously thinking of taking my 88 year old grandma's advice and giving her a sip of whiskey to calm her the hell down? (FYI, No I won't really do that, just day dreaming about it.)

She's 2 and 4 months. I've given up for a while and put Caillou on the television. I just couldn't take it anymore for a while. Yes, we are still nursing though. My parents are from Germany so growing up I always thought nursing till 2 was the norm. I never even realized otherwise until I got pregnant with her. I'm gradually weaning her off now. We are down to nap time and bed time only at this stage.
Any white noise machines? Or a radio turned to a fuzzy am station? White noise and rubbing my daughters back were all that worked when she wouldn't calm down to sleep. Any chance she is getting her two year molars? Maybe some Tylenol?
Tylenol for sure if she is teething. Also, one of my mom groups had a class about baby massage. Apparently, massaging a spot in the feet helps calm them down. Maybe that will help?
I know this is the next day, but until DD was almost 3, the sling could get her to sleep when nothing else could. I slinged her to sleep for more than a few naps when I was pregnant last summer (standing right in front of the a/c!). Ugh, I know how hard it is at that age when they won't just give up. Hopefully the tylenol or motrin helps take the edge off it it was her teeth. Maybe dose her a half hour before bedtime tonight if you think that's what it was?
Hopefully once you got her to sleep, she slept through the night last night. When my son was getting his 2 year molars my pedi recommended Ibuprofen and Benadryl at night. It worked wonders for us.

Probably too late, but I put DD in a carrier (I have an ergo, but a sling works, too) and I walk her. Usually I do stuff around the house - nothing too exciting and she falls asleep pretty quickly.
ETA: Motrin is also a very good idea! Hope she got to sleep.
