I don't think the sterotype surrounding the organization is a good one. I'm sure there are great chapters out there. I just don't like the exclusivity of it.
There is a woman in my book club who is in Junior League is she is of the old school, native Texan, bless your heart, backhanded compliment type. I wouldn't want to hangout with a whole group of her.
I've been to 1 JL event and all of the members were pretty bitchy, imo. Maybe that is not the norm, but they weren't nice and were kind of bougie considering I'm pretty sure they were all still being supported by their parents or some dude.

Wow, interesting. I'm worried a little about the snobby bitch thing because it meets in an city where there is a lot of "new money" righteousness. I guess I could just go to the open house and see for myself how they act. I want to get involved in the community and volunteer and meet new people.

There was a huge thread on it last week, and I went to go search and find it for you, but THE SEARCH ISN'T WORKING...ML is slowly creeping on to this site...
I was in JL in Pasadena, CA. met lots of great women and did some pretty fun work benefiting the local community. definitely a few snobby bitches in the bunch, but the nice, sweet, helpful chicks outnumbered them by far. for sure, go to the open house and give it a shot.
