I vividly remember waiting for a store to open and then having an employee slide a box of Cabbage Patch Dolls down an aisle of people and having it be a grab session. I managed to get one.
Later that day our cousin who had been at a completely different store managed to get one for my sister. When we got them together it was a twin of my doll with a different name. I always thought that was cool.
I don't remember any other toy with such a frenzy.

My mom and I were at toys r us last weekend looking at dolls. She commented "Look at all these Canbage Patch dolls just waiting on the shelves! No one's crowding around or pushing us out of the way to get them!" It totally made me laugh!
I had two Cabbage Patch dolls and I still remember their names. Lynnette Cassidy and Lila Cicily. I always thought it was cool that they had the same initials (and same birthday) because you didn't know that until after you got them out of the packaging.
