What's everyone up to today? We're putting together our tablescape for our Thanksgiving dinner and then braving the grocery stores to get all of our food and supplies.
My bragplaint for the day is that almost everywhere in the US is freezing and my biggest decision is which sandals to wear today.
We're going to see a movie. Probably Birdman, since it's getting some Oscar buzz. I try to see all the best picture nominees. So far, I've seen Boyhood and Gone Girl. I plan on seeing Interstellar, Foxcatcher and The Theory of Everything in the next two weeks. Then I want to see The Imitation Game, Wild and Unbroken. Then, you know, we'll see which ones get nominated for Best picture oscars and how many more I have to see!
scm1011: How awful! Why do people have to ruin an otherwise enjoyable time? I hope you are okay.
I spent last night at my BF's place. We went to a local bar and were surprised to find a really talented musician playing live music there. We danced a bit and interacted with some of the other patrons. I slept in this morning and just got back from having lunch with my cousin.
We're hosting Friendsgiving tomorrow so we've been cleaning the house. Still need to find a tablecloth and clean off the nice plates that are sitting in the china cabinet. And maybe polish up my grandma's antique silverware.
I used my Shop Rite turkey discount to get a fresh organic turkey from a fancy farm. I've only ever done a store brand frozen one. Hope it's worth it!
Our plans originally included taking the dogs to see Santa (shush) and going to an outdoor holiday market. Then it decided to freezing rain all morning and we decided to lounge around in our jammies instead. The weather has since cleared up, but now we're enjoying the change of plans too much to revert to Plan A.
Dh accidentally downloaded malware onto our computer. I cannot figure out where the find the original file to erase it--I've I hid all the files, and have been searching around in safe mode, but I can't figure it out and I'm frustrated.
In other news, I want to give a great big Internet high five to whomeverr recommended the electronic mouse trap to me this summer. We got the large sized one and got my Thursday night visitor. THANK YOU.
My MIL is sitting with Ollie at the hospital, so I am lounging around and waiting for H to bring food. I will go to the hospital this afternoon and spend the rest of the day there.
I DVRed Sleeping Beauty a couple weeks ago so I'm watching it now.
I'm up to the part where Briar Rose returns to the fairies and says she's in love with some dude she met 10 minutes ago, and then the fairies tell her that they aren't their aunts and she is actually a princess with a different name and she has to go live with parents she hasn't seen in 16 years and she's got to marry someone she was pledged to at birth and then they spouts wings out of their backs. And after all that she's only upset that she can't marry that guy she just randomly met in the woods.
Bought warm shirts and sweaters for our trip to Michigan. Shopping for snow boots in San Antonio when it's 76 degrees. Not much selection (understatement), but we arrive Thanksgiving, so can't really get them that day
FIL was transferred from hospital to nursing care, so a mountain of paperwork. Mr. P spent $26 to fax a document at FedEX because he doesn't know how to use his work fax
My mom is very sick and far away in Florida.
Today sucks, I have a terrible headache and attitude. We are both stressed out and I think I just might go to bed...at 4pm.

We loved Boyhood. I still haven't seen Gone Girl....what did you think and did you see Birdman?
Did some cleaning and organizing, then went to the liquor store for a big tasting they were having. I invited a friend over for cosmos later so DH made some to make sure he was still in practice. So, now drinking a cosmo at 5:00. I might be shithoused by the time friends get here.
ETA: Aaaand DH has spilled cosmo on himself twice. He is now changing his shirt. This could be a problem.

I feel like I've had a lot complete day. Just a little out of my normal order. Got drunk at tailgate this morning. Decided to watch the game from home. Took and awesome nap, then had a kick ass swim workout.
Pom I thought Gone Girl was so-so, but I thought the same thing about the book. I'm still rolling Birdman over in my mind, but I think I really, really liked it. Amazing acting all around, gorgeous cinematography and camera work. It could have become very pretentious very easily, but I think it pulled itself back from the edge.
DH started putting up our Christmas lights (don't worry, we won't start lighting them until after thanksgiving) because it was a really nice day. I cooked a bunch so that I won't have to the next few days.
