MH and I are going away for one night. My MIL has to come over feed and let the dog out. She lets her out everyday during the school year when I am in work so it's not like she never has before. She insisted she come over so I can give her instructions. I was fine with that. We told her to come over when ever she wanted and gave her approximate times. Here is what I told her.
Between 11 and 1 come let her out. Feed her between 5 and 7 her food is in the fridge labeled with directions, let her out around 10. I know they will play and stay with her each time. Friday morning let her out around 7 then again around 2. We will probably be hone by dinner if not her food is label in the fridge. We will call if she has to feed her.
She made a huge deal out of this. Wanted exact times, how should the blinds be what lights should be on etc.
All day she as been asking questions. I need a drink.

I'd fuck with her and be super specific. Like, make sure the food hits the bowl at 6:37 PRECISELY. And tell her to go upstairs and leave the bathroom fan on but not the light.
I guess your MIL doesn't understand that your dog is okay with a time span, like feeding him between 5 and 7 instead of 5:05 p.m. But it's good to know she'll take good care of him.
One time I house and dog sat for a friend and she completely forgot to tell me that her dog sleeps in the bed with them at night. I had no clue. At bedtime, I shut the door, went to bed and a few minutes later, the dog (a boxer) quickly clawed the door and whined. When I opened it, he ran in and jumped in the bed. I felt bad they had to refinish their door, but had they remembered to tell me, and I wouldn't have shut the door. I've learned to ask my friends to quickly explain their routines, in addition to their basic watering and feeding needs.
