I love making tea, but it is always such a pain in the ass to make. Boil the water! But don't boil it completely if it's green tea! Steep (for a set amount of time, so it doesn't become bitter!), then drain, then wait for it to cool down to an acceptable temperature for drinking! Anyway, this thing is AWESOME because it takes all the inconvenience out of tea making! There's a little basket at the top (I call it the tea elevator), and I just push buttons on the machine to select tea leaf, and then desired strength. And then I just leave, and it does everything, including lowering the tea elevator once the water is at the exact right temperature! And I can also set it for the morning - so the night before I add the leaves and water, and set the time for it to make the tea. And then my tea is READY when I WANT IT! OOOOOOOOOMMMMMMGGGGGG!!!!
I have basically been boring everyone I know with my enthusiasm for this appliance, and now it's your turn! I mean...when it comes to appliances I own, this MIGHT be #1. And that is including my bullet.
For realz, this thing is worth EVERY PENNY if you drink a lot of tea!
Damn. I was all set to buy this for our previous DCP since we pulled the kids out mid year and I feel like I want to do something for her. But then I saw the price. DAMN YOU EXPENSIVE TEA MAKER! This is perfect. Do they ever get below $250?

I have no clue. It seems like it's been in that price range ever since I have been looking at it. H was going to try to buy it at BB&B with a coupon, but they didn't have one in-stock. You might be able to order it in-store, though?
That sounds pretty awesome! Someone gave me some tea recently as a gift, and I was reading the instructions for preparing it, and it was so involved and confusing. I ended up just microwaving some water in a mug, putting the tea bag in there for the recommended time period, and then drinking it. Whatever, it worked. This machine sounds amazing though!

H and I have recently started drinking more loose leaf tea and now I want this. I don't know if we're committed enough tea drinkers to justify $250 though.
This is beautiful and reminds me that I'm really making tea wrong. I usually just run water through the Keurig or boil it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Sometimes I'm a true American and leave the bag in, depending on what kind it is. I am embarrassing to tea drinkers everywhere.

What tells me it's really perfect is I have this one green tea I love from Republic of Tea (Moroccan Mint). It's been bitter about half the time I brew it (user error obvs), but now every cup is perfect. I swear, if there was a fire, I would grab this over our wedding album on the way out.
Stuff like this makes me reminisce fondly about being a DINK. Not because I wouldn't get a tea maker like that if I didn't feel like it right now, but because whenever I have a birthday my #1 request is TO BE ALONE AND AWAY FROM MY DARLING CHILDREN in some fashion.

It's tea. Of all the things in life that are confusing, tea just isn't one of them.

I'm about to drop $389 on a litter box, so I'm not going to scoff at your $250 unitasker. I'm glad you like it!

I am kind of LOL that I said, "It's worth every penny!" but, you know, I didn't actually buy it. Lolz. Everything is totally worth it when someone ELSE buys it for you!
I just showed this to DH, he asked if I want it, I told him it was really expensive, he asked how much and then shrugged when I told him. He made a comment that the espresso machine I bought him was $400. I love that guy.
