That would annoy me. Especially not reserving the truck. That's such an easy thing to do.
Does the cashier's check have to be overnighted to you or can you go to a local branch? If it makes you feel better, the closing attorney didn't tell me the amount until 45 minutes before closing. I went to the bank to get the check, and they wanted to see my marriage certificate in addition to my ID. I very bluntly told them I had my library card with me and they were more than welcome to see that. I got my check
ewall The check has to be mailed, and therefore overnighted today to ensure we have it in time. There isn't a local branch that is able to give it to us on any shorter notice.

So frustrating! I would not be smiling inside...this is one thing DH is actually better than me at as he plans everything to the nth degree, which is also annoying (I'm a planner but he overanalyzes everything and cannot make a decision to save his life).
Praying everything works out as planned! If he doesn't order the check by tomorrow morning I would definitely mention it with urgency...you don't want to delay the close of escrow (there's typically charges that go with that) because of lack of planning.
I would definitely not count on a moving truck. A company lost our moving truck reservation on our last move and the closest branch that had one available was almost an hour away. They definitely expect you to reserve them.
This is my H and I, too. I'm a total planner and I need to do things in advance so that I know they're taken care of. H has the, "It will work out," mentality and he doesn't bother planning ahead for things. It drives me bonkers sometimes!

Duh, I probably could have suggested a wire, haha. I've never worked directly with wires so I forget about them Hopefully next time he won't wait so long!
I had an awful realtor (S) when we bought our new house. S told us we could use a personal check for closing. We got to closing scheduled at 4 pm and she wasn't there yet and the closing office told us we needed a cashier's check. So we haul ass to the bank, get a check, and go back to the closing office. We bought a short sale, so we dealt with the bank but also the people who owned the house. They did not show up to closing. We signed all of our documents and were told they would be in the next day to sign there part. We also found out at the closing table that the bank backed out of about $500 in expenses they were going to pay for. Apparently S never got it in writing. So, S and the other realtor for the bank split the cost and paid those expenses to keep us happy. S just didn't bother to tell us about any of that until we were signing papers. It was a nightmare.
It's so weird because I was always drawn to that house and still feel like it is where we are suppose to be - but at the same time we have had problems with every step.
Can you go to Walmart or is there a limit to the amount there?
My old rental company in Ft Hood required all rent be paid in cashier check (I guess they got screwed enough times) so we had to get them from Walmart every month. It's just 88 cents.
