Also (unrelated) I worked a 12 hr day in front of the computer and my eyes hurt I bought a book that you journal how you unplug everyday and love that it's making me more aware of being so connected and giving me ideas on how to disconnect.

It's horrible.
Somehow I got into a debate/argument on ML about how I think the violence is not necessary. Now I'm someone who thinks killing innocent people is ok. Um, not what I'm saying.

I love this idea! I downloaded an app called Breathe 2 Relax. My counselor suggested it because I have a hard time relaxing. I found out that I was going from full speed to exhausted and nothing in between. I love the app, but it can get boring, so using a journal would be good idea. Also, I am thinking of starting a blog.

How is using violence to protest against violence productive? It is just so sad to watch. Setting things on fire and destroying a city will not bring that young man back and will not put the police officer in jail. It is so horrible on so many levels.
I'm going on hour 13 at work. So exhausted. Probably getting taco bell. This is directly inverse to my complaint that my pants hurt and I had to adjust my fupa during a client meeting.

That's my point. But evidently only white privileged people have that opinion according to ML. Never mind the Brown family specifically asked for peaceful protests.

I'm drinking. Lots of wine.
My sister in law loves taco bell and says she has a "chalupa fupa". I snorted really loud after I read your post!

Agreed! To me, no matter what side you support, which is difficult because I believe that the some evidence was just released about an hour ago. it is a sad situation. A family lost their son, brother, nephew etc. and the police officer will probably not be able to safely return to his job.
I cannot say I support one side or the other because I was not there and did not see any evidence, but destroying the city is not the answer.

And that is all I have been saying. All i have said that violence is not going to help the situation.
I agree violence is not that answer. And actually I think a MUCH stronger message would have been made with peaceful protests. I get the anger, I really do. But then it plays into what is "expected." Can you imagine the impact if thousands of people just sat with candles or some other sign?
The violence has spread to other cities as well. Maybe I am naive or something, but it's hard to fathom that this is taking place in the United States. There are people shooting guns, smashing windows, lighting fires, etc. It's complete chaos!

Well, the waiter I slipped my phone number to the other night just sent me an unsolicited picture of his dick. So, I'm thinking, "NEXT!"
Well...any good?
This may be my naivety speaking, but I don't think I've actually seen enough dicks in person to have rating system. There were no visible rashes or lesions, so, that's a plus, I guess?

I agree. I was dreading hearing the results of the case only because I knew there would be riots no matter the outcome. I don't know what actually happened. I wasn't there. But violence does nothing. Protests =/= violence.

This is not how it went down.
You: violence isn't okay or helpful.
ML: it's not okay, but it's undetstandable.
You: no, it didn't fix any of these scenarios
ML: we get that, and it's not okay. We are saying it's understandable. It's emotional.
You: I get it's emotional, but I don't understand it.
ML: not understanding the emotion is white privilege.
You: HOW DARE YOU CALL ME PRIVILEGED! I have to think violence is okay or I'm white!?!
ML; uh, no. No one is saying it's okay. We are saying it's understandable. Insert insults about you not getting it (cause you aren't).
You: I'm leaving to live my "privileged" life!
ML: *collective head desk*
Here is the deal/ people are sad and angry and don't know what to do. They are lashing out in anger trying to be fucking heard. They can't trust the police or the courts. They feel all they can do is fight back. Have you never been so angry and hopeless that you threw something, or punched something? It's raw emotion. Most of the violence against PEOPLE came from the cops.
after my 13 hr day (work and GS) the last thing I wanted to see were people rioting on TV ... thank goodness I had It's Complicated on my DVR
This rubs me the wrong way. You don't want to have to see people upset over the death of an unarmed black teenager, so LOL, thank goodness you have DVR! Like... What? And the smiley face? It seems to trivialize what is happening, and has been happening, for years now. You don't have to watch it. You don't have to want to watch it. But you don't have to post all smiley about it either.

the smiley was in poor taste .. after 13 hrs of working and a Daisy GS meeting, the last thing I wanted to watch were the inevitable riots that were going to happen. I found something else to watch instead of the looping news stories about how people were rioting in MO, ESPECIALLY since dd was still up at 8:30-9p when we finally got home. she doesn't need to see that .. not at 5 and not after what she's already seen w/ PD altercations bt her dad and local PD.
