so D still has no teeth, and the doctor said that since he was a preemie, we shouldn't be concerned until 17 months.
D is also underweight, which the doc does think has to do with being a preemie, and that its ok that he gets up at night to give him a bottle (he self-weaned a month ago, much to my chagrin). He doesn't quite fit into the 12 month clothing yet, but maybe if we invest in some baby suspenders, he would, lol.
Z was born at 37 weeks. He was in the NICU for a week because he was so small at birth (4 lbs, 4 oz). He is doing great now, around 21 pounds. Our doctor said that we may notice delays and we may not, and we haven't really noticed anything. Once Z was born he took off gaining weight and went from <0 percentile to around the 30th percentile for height and weight. The doctor doesn't treat him differently and doesn't mention it at his appointments.
My 2013 preemie is doing great! His main issue seems to be his immune system is low. He is 34 pounds (95th percentile) and no developmental delays. He is 22 months.
I keep wondering what we should be looking for in regards to developmental stuff, but at the same time, I don't want to borrow trouble, KWIM?
He was 36 weeks, but didn't have any NICU time - just a few hours in special care nursery.
At 12 months, he wasn't babbling, wasn't crawling and was just generally an unhappy blob. He also threw up all the time - I think we went 5 months straight with throw up every.single.day.
He finally got tubes in February 2014 and it turned him into a different child. Solved so many of his issues! The Dr pre-surgery said he didn't appear to have an ear infection at that point in time. And then during surgery said he cut in and (gross, sorry) pus went flying everywhere with a horrid infection. So he probably was living with an ear infection for six months straight and it just wasn't always visible to the doc.
Anyway, he started crawling very soon after tubes and was walking at 15.5 months. And hasn't thrown up since the days his tubes went in! His hearing is still borderline for loss, but he talks quite a bit now, so I am not too worried about it.
We are still dealing with reflux at 22 months, but other than that things are good
My girls were born at 32w and are now 15m. They have 8 teeth I think. They are walking around and say a couple words, though fewer than other 15m olds. That could be because of being premies or twins. According the the NICU follow up appointments we go to they are catching up to their actual age though they aren't there yet.
They are in 12 m clothes though still fit in most 9m stuff. We know they'll just be tiny. People ask if they are crawling yet, I'm like they are small but they can walk just fine. The dr wanted them to get formula until 15 m so we are working on weaning from that. They now just get a bottle when they wake up and when then go to sleep. They get milk and water in straw cups or sippy cups otherwise.
DD turns 1 next week. She is 18 lb 10 oz but is very tall, a size 12 mo on top but 12 month pants are too big at the waist. She can stand up holding something and can sit. She babbles and I think she says "buh" for bear. I taught her some signs and she was doing them last month but it's like she's forgotten them this month. We just took her in for a sick visit and I asked the pedi about getting off formula so I could estimate how much to buy. The pedi indicated we could start the transition to milk after her 12 mo appointment. She is still drinking from the bottle though. She can't really hold the bottle unless it's one of those skinny 2 oz bottles and doesn't have a clue of what to do with a sippy cup. Like she doesn't get the concept that you have to tip your head back to drink from a bottle so I have to place her in a reclined position and then she will manage for a bit. She does like eating well more like gumming all sorts of food because we don't have any teeth yet either.
