DS is getting really into Legos now, so DH built him a tabletop Lego board for Christmas. He loves the Lego tables at the Carters store and would play there for hours if we would let him.
Here is an unfinished PIP in case any of you have Lego loving kids and you or your partner are handy and need a Christmas idea. We will be able to stash this under our couch or coffee table instead of having a big Lego table in the house (since we have so much other crap, lol).
We are going to paint the wood black to match our coffee table, where DS will use this. DH put felt pads on the bottom so it doesn't scratch our table. The Lego boards are still wrapped in plastic wrap so that's why it looks funny.
Cost breakdown: 6 Lego boards at $4.99/each = $30 MDF board at $8.99 Trim pieces $12 Paint - already owned $0 Total: $51

Where did you get the Lego sheets? $6/pc is the best price I've found so far. We need a bunch to glue to the top of IKEA Trofast units holding his Legos.

We got them at the Lego store at a local mall a week or two ago. Maybe they were running a sale? I see online they are typically $5.99

That's really cool!
Did he have plans he worked from or did he just make it up as he went along? My DH is into woodworking, amd something like this would be awesome for DD1!

Nope, he just made it up as he went. It was really simple - an MDF board, some trim pieces for the edge, the Lego boards (6 10x10in pieces), and the felt pads for the bottom!
