I'm super duper fair. I've used Laura Mercier (Porcelain) and Bobbi Brown (Extra Light)a TMs and like both well enough, Tarte's Smooth Operator (Agent 00) that I didn't like at all, Kiehl's TM - (Light) was way dewy and too dark except in the summer if I was tan. Skin79 in the hot pink bottle was okay too, except maybe a tad greying - I liked that it didn't sweat off. I've never found something and had an OMG this is amazing moment.
I am prone to redness and get occasional dry patches (worse in the winter), I don't need super heavy duty coverage. I break out a bit along my chin line and my skin will sometimes break out when the seasons change. Other than that it stays pretty clear. I'm not overly oily, but can get some t-zone oiliness - primer pretty much keeps that in check.
Any product suggestions? I don't really have a budget restriction, I have no problem spending up to $45-$50 for a good product.
I am pretty fair too and use the Skin 79 BB cream in either the pink or orange pump. (ETA: I use Vitazing underneath so I think that minimizes/counteracts the grey and I blend it like crazy)
For "regular" foundation I use Clinique Perfectly Real in their 2nd lightest shade.
I wanted to like the Nars TM after it got rave reviews on here but their lightest shade was not light enough for me.
Is the vitazing orangey? That was my one concern there, albeit based in internet swatch pictures. Or does it not matter when layered over with another product?
I didn't like Vitazing at all. I did feel that it was kind of orangey on my fair skin, but mostly it just didn't do anything for me at all. It didn't provide any coverage at all, so I had to wear my BB over it, and just felt like it was an extra step with an expensive product that didn't do anything for me. I know I'm in the minority on this, though.
I absolutely love the Clinique BB. You have to be sure to apply over moisturizer, though, or it will feel dry.

I don't think it matters much when layered. To me it takes the flat/greyishness away from the BB cream.
