I just started running and training for a 5K in Sept. I've misplaced my heart rate monitor watch and can't find it anywhere. Do I: A. Get another heart rate monitor watch that also tracks distance or B. Get a Nike Plus band/watch?
If you have either, which would you recommend? And if the HR monitor watch, which brand would you recommend? TIA!
i was looking at the garmin 110 w/heart rate monitor, but i decided to go with the nike+, my friend had it and i liked it, and i wanted something smaller. and it was way cheaper than the garmin and while it doesn't have gps, i have it calibrated to with in .02 of a mile on final distance, even on some longer runs (ie 7 miles, which i know is short for some people on the board)
i have the nike+ shoes and a second pair of brooks shoes with a second foot pod and neoprene pouch to clip to the shoes, that way i don't have to worry about switching foot pods from shoe to shoe when i run.
I have the nike+ sport kit. I've found that it is about 2-5% off in it's measurement of distance, which is an acceptable error level for the price. I use one of the pouches strap the foot pod to my shoe.
I believe there is a nike+ compatible HR strap. there was one available at one point. not sure if they are still offered.
I have a timex HR monitor that I got off of amazon for like $30. it's alright. it suits my purposes. I didn't want to spend too much money because I don't really intend to use it all the time.
