What kind of terrier is this?

Hi guys,

I volunteer at a shelter and this little pup (listed as female on the website but male on it's kennel tag at the shelter?) came in yesterday, I put my name on the waiting list and will adopt him/her on my birthday next week!

Anyhow, pup is listed as a terrier but I can't tell what kind, anyone want to take a guess?

Looks like an affenpinscher- not really a terrier (but, often confused for one)- likely an easier going breed than most terror... er, terriers.

Thank you! I'm pretty certain he is an affenpinscher, I'd never heard of the breed before. All of the breed standards fit so I'm going to go ahead and say that's what he is.

Definitely an Affie. There a lot of them in shelters in California for some reason. Congrats and good luck. I have my Affie and a Rat Terrier and I would take the Rattie over the Affie any day, LOL. He makes my terrier look like the perfect dog!! So pig headed and stubborn! But with that face and my love for him there is no way I would do without him! Just got back on these boards so not sure how to share my pics!!
