I was notified yesterday I have two choices. Both are in Europe. I have young kids and a husband who is active duty.
1. Very steady Mon-Fri job. Plenty of gym time, long weekends, easy work that I'm very comfortable at doing. No travel required. As far as my career, it's a *fine* job - not amazing but not a career-killer, just very hohum and typical.
2. A job where I would be in charge of 4 other people stationed throughout Europe. I would travel about 7 days a month to assist them, then also do the typical supervisory tasks. The travel would not be on my schedule although I might have some influence on a good portion of it. Some travel would be to the AOR. The job would not be a predictable 0730-1630 job. The job itself is not something I would enjoy as much, but promotion out of this job is almost 100% guaranteed.

It doesn't sound to me like you're that excited about either job, so I picked the one that's better for your career. I might be crazy but 7 days a month travel sounds like a bargain to me. But yeah,.....crazy corner over here.
I picked number two, which is probably what I would pick. Factors to change/confirm my mind would be how long you're planning on staying in, support you have, husbands willingness to partake in equal child rearing, etc.
I might be the voice of dissent - you'll be in Europe, and option 2 might be too demanding to give you the opportunity to enjoy being in Europe. I'd pick option 1, so you can more easily get around and play the tourist and do all the cool stuff possible in Europe.
