Cleaning infant seats

Has anyone pulled their infant seats apart for a good cleaning? I should have done it before J but instead I scrubbed a few spots and called it good. Now after J it REALLY needs a clean like straps definitely and the main seat. Problem is I hear they can be such a pain to pull all apart and then have to put it back together. Is it really that bad? I have the chicco keyfit if it helps.

Ah good to know. That makes me feel better about it since I looked once and started to pull it apart then got scared lol I was seriously thinking of waiting till a warm day and just taking soap to scrub it all down then just hose it off, sun dry it and done. I will give it another go at pulling it apart and maybe seeing if I can get the straps cleaned by washing them in the sink.

Ditto the straps. I ended up having to order new ones online for bkb since she barfed so much on them. Washing the lining was a piece of cake.

I have (thankfully) only needed to spot-clean, but wanted to echo checking the car seat manual (or, in its absence, contacting the manufacturer) to verify what cleaning methods are acceptable for the various parts. They may also have tips to make it easier to disassemble and reassemble properly.
