I'm not sure who you are referencing, but I actually disagree with this. Assy people shouldn't speak. Stupid people should speak and have the opportunity to become educated.
Dude, I don't know why no one has organized a black folks and/or curly girl product swap.
I would so get in on that.
I haven't seen Gabby's hair today yet. But I saw nothing wrong with it. And I have super curly hair that when I just straighten it, it will get frizzy and fly-a-ways everywhere in the humidity or when I sweat.
And I really don't get why people are judging a freaking 16 year old olympic althete for her freaking HAIR.

People complaining about her hair...so i change it to assy .

The flyaways side eye has always bothered me, as if typical "white girl" hair doesn't have flyaways as well. I guess it's acceptable as long as they fall neatly and coyly in tendrils or something. But if it waves around like wings of cotton, oh hell naw??
Where are you seeing these debates/comments about her hair? Is this on FB or somewhere else? I did say the other day that ALL of the half-done ponytails look horrible. This is just my opinion.

Actually, I think the super-tight ponytails that *all* of the girls on the US Olympic Gymnastics Team were wearing looked ridiculous! Those ponytails look like they would give me a headache in 10 minutes flat. I get the whole thing about keeping the hair neat and out of the way, but seriously - they just looked painful.
This is going to be such a dumb question but what is the importance of it being relaxed or straightened?
some feel that she isn't representing the african american community properly with her hair like that.
This is so messed up! Isn't she representing the african american community properly by being an awesome athlete and a great success story?! Surely being a positive role model for young girls should be more important than what her hair looks like while she's winning Olympic gold!

And yet what my hair looks right often trumps what my resume looks like in a job interview.
Fucked up, yo. I seriously hate the media. WHY? This is an extremely accomplished young woman, who at 16 has achieved more than I will my entire life. And we're talking about her hair. Okay.
It pisses me off that people are commenting on her hair and the flyaways. She's a gorgeous 16 year old athlete, competing in the Olympics, sweating and twisting herself into positions we can't even imagine trying, and all they do is cut down her hair? Yeah, pisses me off.
Also, you should see my hair right now. It's sort of curly in spots, wavy in others and straight in others. I'm wearing it in a ponytail. I have a halo of curly shit going on all over the place, which just looks like I rolled out of bed and threw my hair up. Which I didn't. Today.
And for damn sure, I wasn't flipping my fat ass all over a gym today. Or any day.
I thought she was the only one who looked age appropriate. Those Russian girls and that eye makeup! My god.
elle, with your husband's family, you don't know any Russian girls? That shit was mild.
Not that type of Russian girl. DH's family is old school Russia. These are girls whose families did well under the communist regime. Totally different look, different values. Eyeshadow like that definitely would not fly around the IL's.
