We are currently renting out h's house, but someone we know is interested in buying it. We could just work through an attorney, rather than a realtor, correct?
Yes. When exH and I divorced, we had a tenant renting our former home (duplex). We wanted to sell, and asked her if she would be interested in purchasing it (since she already lived there). I hired an attorney to handle the contract and that was it. Very simple, and we skipped the realtor commission.
We bought without a realtor. We knew the sellers, and had an inspection done. We also got a deal partially because the sellers did not have to pay a real estate commission.
