The weather here is pretty horrible right now. Lots of snow and wind. One doesn't move to Iceland for nice weather, though.
Christmas prep is going well! The tree is up and all of our figurines are out. I need to stop buying DD presents. I have so much for her!
Lots of Christmas parties coming up, starting Saturday and going well past Christmas. They really get into the spirit here and it's almost a month of celebration. Also, SIL gave birth the other day and we'll get to meet our niece soon! I'm so excited for her since she had TTTC and actually got her adopted son 9 months ago (he is almost 3 now). Sometimes when it rains, it pours.
I love the chocolate and bread here. They're really into fresh bread here and it is soooo good! And lamb. Very delicious lamb that we get lots of directly from the farm.
So what's the weather like by you? Cold but better this week than last. Last week was so windy it felt 20 degrees colder than it actually was.
How is any Christmas prep going? Sort of. We are going back to America so I'm trying to do laundry and get crap ready.
Anything exciting coming up for you in the near future? Besides the US trip... I'm trying to find a good getaway in February. I'm not seeing good flights so it may not work out but I'm hoping to go somewhere warm.
QOTD: favorite food in your new home! Mandu. They are dumplings but more like Chinese wontons. You can eat them on their own or in soup. I like American dumplings but these are much lighter and taste better.
It's hot. The breeze cools things down, but it's hard to get outside without roasting in the sun.
Christmas prep is quiet, but good. we're staying here for the first time, so I'm trying to keep up some holiday spirit, but it's hard being in summer and away from all our family. DH is terrible at celebrating holidays, so that doesn't help.
Not much coming in the near future, though I'm hoping we can plan a little weekend getaway somewhere closeby. Just for a change of scenery and to enjoy the weather together.
QOTD: Favorite food here is Rooibos tea (nice to be able to get caffeinated tea out and about), and fresh lamb here as well!
Windy and terrible but at least at the moment it's not raining!
Decorated a bit with the kids the other day and we'll select a tree on Saturday and get it delivered next week.
My sister is here in 11 days and I'm really excited for her arrival. Feels like Christmas will kick off once she is here.
I ordered Pottery Barn Kids monogrammed stockings for my three kids this year. Had them sent to my sister in Canada and she is bringing them over.
It was still so expensive - £86 total for the three with shipping and taxes for the three - but I searched for monogrammed stockings made in the UK and didn't find anything I liked on etsy or not on the high street. Even the okay ones were £40 each - yikes!
I am such a slave to North American retail. I need to stop looking at US and Canadian sites.
QOTD: I really like jacket potatoes with beans and cheese. Carby comfort food. I try and have the ingredients on hand for quick dinners. Also, they do pork so well in the UK. At home I would never get a pork roast but they do such nice roast pork with crackling here, or pork belly.
It's pretty windy, but sunny here today. I don't think we're supposed to get much of the terrible storm hitting the west coast.
How is any Christmas prep going?
We had a shit-tastic year, so we're not really doing Christmas. Plus H's thesis defence is next week so we've mainly been focusing on that. My mum's sent some of my favourite Old Dutch chips in a care package. I think that's about it.
Anything exciting coming up for you in the near future?
H will get his PhD and I will be FREE of the burden of being the sole breadwinner! Gah, sorry, I know I sound really jaded right now. It's been a long haul and I'm psyched the end is in sight, and so proud of H (and me for enduring it).
QOTD: favorite food in your new home!
Love Yorkshire puds with an awesome roast. Also, Christmas pudding is amazing. I grew up eating it in Canada, but I like how you can just buy it in the supermarkets here instead of having to make your own.

So what's the weather like by you? -- Today it's unseasonably cool, overcast with threatening thunder. It's supposed to be near 30 this weekend.
How is any Christmas prep going? -- I'm done with shopping, and Santa has delivered to the stockings. I have to make dessert for Christmas dinner, but that's not for a while yet. I'm making a lemon pound cake filled with lemon curd ice cream. I debating whether to frost it with a lemon frosting or just a a vanilla buttercream.
Anything exciting coming up for you in the near future? -- We're headed to the US on New Year's Eve for a cruise with my parents and then a flying business visit in NOLA.
QOTD: favorite food in your new home! -- I really haven't found anything uniquely Australian that I really like (not a fan of either emu or kangaroo, and I do not like Aussie sausages at all! But I do find myself missing pies for lunch when I'm in the US.

So what's the weather like by you? On and off rainy but not too cold, I find it hard to believe it's December and I'm not wearing my winter coat yet. My coworkers who have lived here longer find it colder than me, so they joke that I'm still on Canada weather.
How is any Christmas prep going? I waited too long to start getting Christmas gifts, so they won't get mailed out until tomorrow. Unfortunately this means they won't arrive until after Christmas, but my mom is the same way and hasn't mailed our stuff yet either.
Anything exciting coming up for you in the near future? Not yet, H has some vacation to burn in the next few months, so I've gotta start planning something!
QOTD: favorite food in your new home! I don't know if I have an overall favourite, but I tried potato pancakes at a Christmas Market last weekend, oh my god they were so much better than I expected! They weren't like shredded potato pancakes I've had before, instead it was mashed potatoes, and so much better.
