We now have 2 dogs and although we are young I know anything can happen, such is life.
We have made an appt. to have our wills updated to include provisions for our puppy girls. We are surprised by the reactions we have received. Some people can not believe we have waited this long, others are surprised that people plan for their pets.
Our plan is:
--The girls must be kept together
--To have an annual amount provided per dog to their guardian as opposed to a lump sum
Are we over looking anything? We are new to this so any help from veteran pet owners would be greatly appreciated.
Its one of those things we know we *should* do, but just haven't yet..Ya know? That being said we don't even have wills. Ugh. I know we are young, but tragic things can happen at any age. Just sucks to think about.
If something happened to us I know my IL's would take him. They live in the same town as us, watch him while we are on vaca, have a Weim, & are retired. He just loves it out there @ their house.
We have 3-4 other alternatives that we could name also which is comforting to know.

Yeah I still haven't gotten on this.
Our plan is to have both of our life insurance go into a pour over trust. Whoever takes the animals gets disbursements from the trust. MIL would get the dogs and one of the cats, my Dad would get the other two cats.
