You ever get so excited about something (usually something ridiculous) that you can't help but flail your arms/hands? Just me? oh.
ANYWAY: We're getting our first Studio Movie Grill and it opens next week! Since we left Texas (Alamo Drafthouse), we've never lived in a place with food/alcohol in theatres (which is ridiculous, b/c California is like FOOD EVERYWHERE! LIQUOR IN GAS STATIONS!) But I digress.
How did I not know you were lived in Texas. I refuse to watch movies at regular theatres now after eating/drinking/watching movies at alamo. My co-worker's husband is the head chef of a new movie/eating placd called Moviehouse and eatery. Yummier food too.

We only lived there two years (thank goodness). We were in McAllen from January 2007 through January 2009. It was *more* than enough.
We have a Movie Tavern nears us and they just remodeled and now how have RECLINING SEATS WITH FOOT RESTS!!!!!! It is so amazing. I love eating and drinking while watching a movie. It really is the best way to watch a movie.

I'm not conservative enough for Texas.
You should have moved to Austin. Pretty liberal up here. Makes you forget that the rest of the state is all conservatives.

We looved Austin. Unfortunately, there were no job openings there. We were stuck in McAllen until R could find a new job (which put us in slightly-less-conservative-but-still-weird Ohio).
When SMG opened in Indy I was ecstatic because the two independents that did the same had closed (one many years ago and the other just a year or so before). I've now been to SMG 3 times, and each time was terrible. Both the service and the food is terrible. It was so bad the last time, I complained until they comped the food for everyone in my theatre, which luckily didn't take much complaining. It was bad. Unless I'm desperate, I do not see myself visiting again. I hope your location is better.
ETA: ditzydi, have you been to Flix Brewhouse in RR? They're supposed to open a location here in the next few months. I hope it's better than the experiences I've had at SMG.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I've lived within 5 miles from these places for nearly 14 years but have NEVER been even though I've always wanted to. Don't hate me!
So what's the problem just putting booze in your purse? WTH, every theatre is a drinking theatre.
LOL, we do that too, but I'm tired of small-box wine. I want a legit bottle. And also a yummy dinner, served to me whilst I sit and watch hobbits or something.

Sounds like someone needs a bigger bag.
We had Cinena Drafthouse decades ago. They folded. Now we have one Cinebistro. As I remember, they only serve BEFORE the movie starts. So you aren't eating during the movie. They total you out before they roll the film. If you run out of beverage, too bad, get up and get a soft drink from the concession. At least that's what I remember.
Alamo lets you order during the movie. It seems like (from the SMG website) you can order as much or as often as you want from your seat with the call button.

I have not and we lived two minutes from them. I am pretty much a diehard moviehouse person bc I want to support my co-worker's husband's company and see them succeed. They just opened a second location in Keller, tx and are about to start work on a lication in Ower Mound,tx
Yay for you! We jus got a cinebar(?) and I haven't been yet but want to. I just don't think going alone is like going alone to a regular theater, which I do all the time; yeah, probably all in my head.
I miss the McMemamin's venues with theaters that were around when I was in college. We have some in this state but not exactly nearby
