Yes!! Love it. I've been eating them my whole life (dad is English) and making them for a long time. I usually use jarred mince with some mods though, I don't make it from scratch.

Lol chickens987, I literally just told DH yesterday that no one eats them here. Oops. Personally, I don't really love them. I'm more of a sherry triffle girl but I do eat them when we are in England for Christmas.

I didn't realize your dad was English! I thought it was only your dh.
Yep! So for me christmas is mince pies, goose, and christmas pud. So my obsession with dressing my DD in English themed clothes isn't total cultural appropriation - I'm a dual citizen

I can find mincemeat at my local grocery store, but you can also get pre-made pies at World Market. I have to make them since H needs gluten free crust though.
We are taking DD on a Santa steam train when we're in England, and I think I'm as excited about the fact that they give the adults a sherry and a mince pie as I am about the actual Santa/train experience, LOL.
We make Tourtière ... Every Christmas Eve! Family tradition.
I think we are all at cross purposes. chickens987 and I are talking about mince pies made with dried fruit that is called mince meat. Isn't tourtiere actually meat? Like minced meat? Lol so confusing.
My grandpa loved mincemeat pie and I used to make it for him every year.
I have a vivid memory of eating it when I was around 5 years old. I took a bite and it was sour (probably a currant). I had a cloth napkin and I didn't think I was allowed to spit it out but I didn't want to swallow it. So naturally I started crying. My family still teases me about that.
We have them at Christmas (dh is British). We are heading to the UK for Christmas and I am sure will have them. Not my favorite
I forget where you go? We are headed to the midlands near Milton Keynes.
Newcastle. We are heading to Prague for 4 days first with our kids, then heading to the ILs in Newcastle. We have two days alone (no kids or ILs!) in the Lake District too, and will probably head to York. We were there this Summer and spent time in London (where we lived and where our son was born) so skipping London this time, sadly.

Fun! We are doing 2 nights sans kiddo in London. Excited to do some of the super touristy stuff we haven't done in a long time.

I know, it is nice to get away for some alone time! I loved taking the kids back to London this summer, but next trip I think we will do it without them, lol!
I'm lucky, my local WalMart has proper Mr Kiplings mince pies this Christmas. I have one every night for dessert.
My dh thinks they are so disgusting but they taste like Christmas to me.
I don't live near a Walmart, but this inspires me to find another place to find mince pies. They (plus Cadbury's selection boxes) are Christmas to me, too.
