In the last year, I have had 5 different surgeries. The last one caused a lot of complications and I have been on Oxycodone ever since. H and I decided we want to have another baby, so even though I still get pain sometimes, I decided to stop taking the painkiller. OMG....I have been 8 hours without and I want to DIE. I am going through withdrawal so badly. Restless legs, anxiety, cold sweats.... I didn't even realize I had become dependent on these things. How do I survive this?? H had an issue for a while where he was going behind my back and taking them and I went through the roof calling him an addict, etc...Now I am addicted? (He straightened out and doesn't even touch so much as a tylenol now)
How do people get through this? I want to take a pill so bad right now. I have to work a 12 hour shift tomorrow and I can't even begin to fathom getting through the night. How will this not kill me?? I'm so sorry I am being so dramatic. I just didn't realize it would be like this. Anyone have any tips on how to manage this? The thought of getting through the next minutes seems too much to handle.....
((Hugs)) this is not an easy to to admit, but you can do this.
I think that you need to talk to your doctor about this and see about slowing coming off of it. If you go cold turkey like this you will have some very hard days ahead of you. (Not saying this to give you an excuse to take a pill.)
Please let your H know what is going on so that he can help you through this. It will be easier to get through with a support system.
Have you talked to your doctor or pharmacist about going off cold turkey? I think they usually use a taper plan.
There is a difference between addiction and physical dependence, and that's something you might want to talk to someone about, since it will affect future pain management.
Good luck. I really hope you call your doctor's office in the morning and ask for advice. Personally, I would call a pharmacist tonight and ask if it's safe to go cold turkey, or if you need to be under medical care.
What kirra said. Going off some drugs is very dangerous if you're not under a doctor's care. Did your doctor know you were trying to get off the stuff?
