What happened over there?

I've been through Nest changes before - but why in the world would they update to a format that was so much worse than the old one?
Does anyone know what happened?
And how did you all know to come over here. I feel like I just got lucky when I found y'all.

Maybe Catlawdy has a bit of a point. They need fresh meat and the cliques and old folks regulars are scaring off the newbies so they're scaring off the oldies to "freshen things up a bit." I can think of no other reason to explain the horrificness of that which is the new Nest.

But even if they do want to reboot the Nest to get in fresh meat they need boards that are functional. After the switchover they were losing posts left and right, and I couldn't even post anything because it kept erroring out.

Agree with Nonny. And as I stated earlier today on one of the nine million substitute boards, if you look at somewhere like ivillage, the Nest is WAY more active. Even if we're being assholes while being active doesn't that look more attractive to advertisers?

Also, I definitely buy shit, they just need to tailor their ad sales better. For example, I am always hungry this time of day no matter what I eat. If you put an ad with a giant bowl of pasta I will totally go buy pasta on my way home from work. I just wont buy the shitty crap they advertise.

I've been through a ton of changes, everyone gets into a tizzy, then it all goes on as normal. BUT - w/ this change - it's simply unattractive and hard to read. The Knot changed a LONG time ago and it was actually that change that got me to finally leave the Knot for good and move to the Nest/Bump only.

Now that they are changing too - I'll be curious to see what happens.

I don't see why we could continue to give them business. Get critical mass over here and leave it behind.

We just need to figure out a way to get google traffic for advice or something.

This. The fact that it still isn't working after more than 24 hours and they haven't bothered to do anything--hell, even post a "Sorry"--is astounding. The only response they've had so far is for Nest Kathleen to get bitchy at ML for upsetting the ~4 Connect with Pampers "regulars".

Cosmetic changes I can accept and learn to use. But when it takes a full minute to load a page and I'm not able to respond half the time due to errors (using iPod safari)...it's obvious the techies did not plan this well. Even if it were some massive conspiracy to drive away regulars, how are you supposed to attract newbies when they can't even post?

This change was just that bad. It killed off pretty much what was left of the local boards included 2 I frequented.

1 moved to FB and the other was kind of already on FB because a lot of us are really friends IRL now so we are all just FB friends.

I don't think The Nest has a decent IT department, if any. The capabilities on that discussion board are severely lacking. If they were smart, they would have tried to develop a mobile app that was more user-friendly. A lot of people nest from their phones!

The nest and the bump actually DO have mobile apps...but they don't link in any way to the existing boards so they're barely used. It's weird.

If they would at least acknowledge the sucky-ness it would be a little better. First we are told they are switching to a new format, then it doesn't happen, then it happens randomly in the middle of the day on a Wednesday, and then NO information about it. No stupid little sticky, that says "Hey guys, things are going to be wonky for a few day, but bear with us." They have the WORST communication with their posters, and that just makes it worse!

I agree. Sadly over the past (ahem) 9 years since my knot days there have been a lot of changes, but this one is the least user friendly.
