Baby boy A 7#1oz born by SVD at 4:22 pm and Baby boy B 6#3oz born by C/S at 4:32 pm on 12/12/14.
TL;DR: got induced on Friday baby A was born vaginally after minimal pushing but baby B turned breech and had to come out by CS and then go to NICU for a little fast breathing. They're nursing fairly well. We're still here for bilirubin and since my H is sick, we decided to stay one more night, hopefully home tomorrow!
Long version:
Went into the hospital on Friday for induction and didn't really get going on the Pitocin until mid morning. I was still at 3-4 when I got started. Contractions slowly increased in intensity as they went up on the dose but not much change in dilation by noonish when my doctor checked me and broke baby A's water. She offered me the epidural whenever I wanted but I wanted to wait until I was further along.
Around 1:30/2 is when the contractions increased in intensity and I was feeling ready for the epidural, which was awesome once it kicked in. My nurse said I was 6cm by this point. I was planning to take a nap but then Baby B was dropping his heart rate with my contractions so we spent a while messing with my position.
Once that got settled, she left me to rest with the parting words of "Let me know if you feel rectal pressure" Ha! 3 or 4 contractions later, I was calling her and she checked me and I was completely dilated! She called my doc who came over a few minutes later and agreed. She also did a quick US and found that Baby B had gone from transverse to breech but she was hopeful that she could do a footling extraction and deliver him vaginally.
She wanted to do a few pushes in the room before we went to the OR and with the next contraction so I did 3 really bad pushes, lol, and oh, looky there, he was crowning! So off to the OR we run and once I got on the table and everyone was in place, I pushed 3 times with the next contraction and out pops Baby A, crying and vigorous! I see him for a sec before he goes to the nursery team.
Then she works for a couple of minutes on trying to grab baby B and bring him down but it's not really working and his HR starts to drop. I was just about to say to her, "just do the section" when she announces conversion to C/S to get him out so they get me prepped and draped and exactly 10 mins after big brother, little brother arrives and is a little stunned by it all and gets handed to the NICU team.
They have to get him stimulated a bit and give him some positive pressure breathing and then they bring him to me. He's a little grunty so I wasn't surprised when they wanted to take him to the NICU to watch him. By this time I was getting to hold both of them but got super nauseated from the manipulation of the C/S repair that I had to hand them off anyway and couldn't even handle my H talking to me or touching me.
Anyway, eventually I felt better and got to latch baby A for 12 mins in the OR and then he went with me back to my room where my family was waiting.
I got to see baby B a little later that evening and nurse him. He was breathing a little fast but was OK. Apparently he got bilateral pneumothorax probably from the resuscitation. I pumped 20 cc colostrum for him that night and went back again the next morning and nursed again and he was able to be transferred down that afternoon and stay with us
Baby A is a champion nurser and has made it his mission to single handedly bring in my milk, which he has already done.
Baby B is great and cute and is nursing very well too. He's on a bili blanket and we're staying one more night.
Considering I had an SVD and C/S, I'm doing pretty well but I think that's mainly cuz A came out so easily (compared to the almost 3 hr process with their sister).
Staying on the colace and a good friend brought me some coffee, some prune juice and a pint of blueberries to help things along, lol.
My H has a man cold with a bad sore throat so I made him go see the doctor on Saturday morning bc he was convinced he needed antibiotics. He stayed home Saturday night because of feeling sick (and he was annoying me) and my mom spent the night.
Sunday was a little hectic and I had to kick folks out to nurse the babies and rest. Then my mom started feeling sick so I sent her home. Apparently she had a fever last night. I'm really hoping these babies aren't going to come down with a fever. I think that would really upset me.
Today I told my dad not to come up and have just had one friend come visit so it's been really nice and quiet.
Congratulations, sorry to hear you had to have the dredded double wammy. Glad to see you are staying on top of the colace and other supplies as the gas build up was the worst part of my c/s recovery while in the hospital.

Congratulations! I am sorry you got hit with the double wammy, but glad to hear you are all doing well. I think everyone I know including me has a cold right now too. Delivering in cold and flu season sucks! Take care of yourself and your two little men. They are adorable!
Thanks everyone. We've had a bit of a rough go at BF but I'm doing everything I can to keep it going
Hopefully a little extra struggle in the start will end up worth while in the long run! hang in there! When I BF'd DD the first few weeks were the worst. A trip to the lactation consultant really helped with her latch and my comfort level with the whole thing (and my cracked sore nipples....)

Yeah, we're unfortunately beyond the cracked and sore stage and we're in the "missing part of my nipples" phase. It's bad. Now I'm just pumping until it heals up and I can direct BF again. I'm doing triple nipple cream (similar to APNO) on the sore areas and wound dressing to the really traumatized areas.
Oh I am so sorry persa! That sounds hellish. I hope you heal soon!
Thanks lady. I think I'm slowly getting there, the traumatized areas have gotten much smaller. I bought some slow flow nipples for the babies today cuz I am DONE syringe feeding (and I think I can pace them better with a bottle). And I bought some nipple shields to try in the next few days until my nips heal completely. I'm just hoping my supply maintains till then.
The EP relationship is not one I personally enjoy. I feel very isolated from my babies and it makes me really sad. Kudos to the moms that make it work.
