1) when will my 17 mo old use a spoon? She still definitely prefers her fingers, and can get the spoon into her mouth, but doesn't get the scooping motion.
2) My judgement is clouded on this because I don't particularly like spending time with the ILs. We are supposed to go to BILs for Xmas. Their kid has had a "hacking cough" for two months and has been vomiting now. They're calling pedi today. If she's still coughing at Xmas, would you go? I know a lot of kids have this cough right now, and her lungs sound clear, they say. They're also not the cleanest people.
1) When did you stop wearing a pad/stop bleeding? Some days it's a small amount, and other days there isn't any.
6 weeks for me
2) My abs feel like I did a bunch of sit ups when I stretch-normal? And when does it go away?
Did you have a c-section or vaginal delivery? I didn't have this, but it sounds like it could be normal. Your muscles do a lot of stretching during pregnancy.
1) when will my 17 mo old use a spoon? She still definitely prefers her fingers, and can get the spoon into her mouth, but doesn't get the scooping motion. I feel like between 12-18 months the spoon was just there. Sometimes she would try to use it, sometimes she would just paint with it. Between 18-24 she really mastered it. Just keep offering it and if she uses it great, and if not that's ok for now.
We practice spoon use with things like yogurt that are easier to scoop and somewhat stick to the spoon even if he turned it upside down. He's not great but has fun with it.
Ditto all of this. AJ mostly thinks it's funny, tries to put the handle end in the yogurt, etc. It ends up being a huuuuuuge mess since he inevitably tries to eat at least half of the yogurt with his fingers, so I try to just do this on bath night.
He is also fascinated by forks-he occasionally tries to stab a piece of food, but mostly waves it around. If I put a piece of food on the fork for him, he will either take it off and put it in his mouth or actually stick the fork in his mouth...sometimes that's the easiest way for me to get him to finish a few more bites of a meal.
everafter07 for number 2, it would depend on what the kid was diagnosed with - a cough could mean nothing or it could be contagious. I'd probably end up going if it wasn't a serious illness...and then blame them for every sneeze or sniffle my kid had for the next 6+ months. bluelikejazz 7-8 weeks of PP bleeding for me I don't remember sore abs when stretching, but it definitely doesn't sound abnormal.
bluelikejazz, my bleeding was done right around 4 weeks pp (I only remember because I know that's when I started running again, and I wasn't going to do that until the bleeding was done). It did pop back up for a week around 7-8 weeks pp, but it's hard to say if it was PP bleeding or a result of the Mirena I had placed at my 6 week pp OB appt.

Thanks, that makes me feel better re the spoon use. We keep giving it to her, but yeah she mostly waves it around right now, unless it's preloaded.
Waiting to hear from SIL about what the pedi says. They're very chill with illness, so it makes me nervous. DD had HFM and they told us to bring her to their son's birthday anyway. You have like, 10 other kids there! Did their parents say they didn't mind HFM exposure?! Oy.
1) When did you stop wearing a pad/stop bleeding? Some days it's a small amount, and other days there isn't any. Around 4 weeks for me. I wore a thin panty liner for an additional few days just to make sure it didn't return. Haven't had any bleeding since then.

DS got really good with it around 19 months or so. He switched daycare classrooms at 18 months and in the new class set up he had to learn to be a lot more self sufficient with feeding. they helped him in the beginning, but the cafe is not set up for the teachers to feed the kids like it was in earlier classes.
1) When did you stop wearing a pad/stop bleeding? Some days it's a small amount, and other days there isn't any. 4 maybe 5 weeks. The last two weeks were pretty light.
2) My abs feel like I did a bunch of sit ups when I stretch-normal? And when does it go away? Are you wearing a belly support band? That really helped me. When I took it off, it felt like my abs were sore and I could not support any lifting. When I had it on I felt relatively normal.
I know you have to wait until at least one year to give honey but does that also means nothing processed with honey as an ingredient, like honey wheat bread for example?
What is the statute of limitations on liking a post? I mean, it's weird to like something from 3 months ago. But what about 2 days ago? Or 20 hours? Is the moment gone and not like-worthy anymore? Help with this super important topic please.

I just like away regardless of timing and etiquette

If it's on the first two pages, you're good. Beyond that it gets iffy.
Any tips on how to clean infants neck rolls? Both babies get gross stuff built up in there and some skin irritation but make it super difficult for me to get in and clean out the skin folds, usually it takes both DH and I to do it.
DD has started spitting up fairly large quantities after 10-15 minutes of nursing (while still nursing). Should I make her take breaks? Something else? She's 2 months and eats at least every 2-3 hours during the day.

Technically, the "danger" of honey is botulism spores and cooking does NOT kill these spores. It becomes safer post-1 because the gut is more closed. So if that's the sort of thing you worry about, you would also avoid baked goods and recipes containing honey.
Read ingredients, though, as some "honey" flavoured stuff is just corn syrup.

We wiped with a warm washcloth and soap when she was really little, and a baby wipe a couple months in. Aquaphor once the rolls are clean and dry will help with the irritation.

We accidentally gave her bread with honey a couple of times. I didn't sweat it, but didn't do it again, once I realized.
Is it possible for my almost-10-month old to be cutting canines?! I don't know what else they could be. She already has her lateral incisors and the next ones out are popping through. I thought canines were like 18-month teeth.
I don't think she has any molars, at least not that I can see or feel. We got bottom central incisors first, then top lateral incisors (I posted her "vampire baby" pic a few weeks ago!) and now we're getting one of her top central incisors and these canines.
Why can't my kid teethe in the proper order? LOL, sigh.

Soap up your finger and wiggle it around in there. (Hmm, that sounds odder than I meant it!) It was the only way I could clean out DD's neck folds when she was little. A washcloth was always too difficult for some reason. I'd try to do it once a day, not necessarily during a bath.
(And for the record, I learned the finger trick here. DD was definitely a stinky baby before I asked the same question)

I gave DD a purée that had some marinara in it for the first time today. By the time she was done, her cheeks were bright red anywhere she had smeared the food. Typical reaction to the acid in the tomatoes? Or something to worry about? Should I wait until she's older (10 months now) to give her tomato products, or just power through the red cheeks and feed her whatever she's willing to eat?
DD cut her first tooth a few weeks ago. At the same time I noticed a white spot (tiny dot/circle) on her upper gums where her right canine should be. I assumed that she was cutting two teeth. H doesn't think that the white spot is a tooth and it hasn't changed since I first noticed it but what else could it be?
Realistically, how often should we break on a long car trip with a 14 month old (he's pretty chill, if that matters).
We only stop if it's convenient for us or if she's crying and I can't calm her down without taking her out of her seat. DD is younger but 4 hours seems to be her max right now.
