When I found out I was pregnant with DS, my teaching position was cut to half time for the next school year. When DS was 3 months old, I found out my job was completely eliminated due to the budget for the next school year. So, I basically have been a SAHM for nearly two years, minus the half time days(but I had a mat leave in there).
I got a phone call saying I am going back to full time in September(Thank goodness, I taught for 6 years prior, and this year has been difficult financially).
My only concern-transitioning to not being with DS(23 months when I start work) all day long. DH may quit his sucky, low paying job to SAH(he did SAH with DS when I went back to work, because he was a golf pro and had the winters off, and then SIL watched DS 2 days a week for free).
You kind of just do what you've got to do. The biggest issue I've had is that I spoiled DH by doing most of the housework and cooking for a year, so he sort of forgot how to chip in. Fortunately, he's a teacher and being off for the summer while I'm at work has got him back to being useful. DS had a really rough time for the first 2 weeks of daycare, but then he settled. So expect the transition to take a little while, whether you leave them at home with DH or put them in care.
