I'm having both done very soon. I know they both screen for Downs (and other stuff) but is one more accurate than the other? I'm "older" and I'm very nervous about the NT test but I'm wondering if my results from the panorama test come back before the 12 week appointment, can I breathe a little easier?

I actually am getting the panorama blood done today and my NT screen isn't until January 7th so I might have the results back. I guess I'm just wondering if having the results back before the NT makes any difference.

They are both screens, not diagnostic. I'd say yes, it's a good sign if your Panorama comes back normal, but they do have a margin of error that is worth considering. If either the Panorama comes back abnormal or the NT scan shows markers, I would get a diagnostic (cvs or amnio) to confirm before making any decisions.
Good luck. Fwiw, I am also an older mom. I had a bad NT scan in the spring, and I had a good one this time. It's nervewracking for sure. Remember that the odds are overwhelmingly on your side, even as you age. Listen to your intuition. Last time, I had a gut feeling something was wrong and I was right. Even though it's scary, listen to your instincts and try to keep busy.
