I rinse with water as well. I do have a store brand spray wash that contains citrus so it might "disinfect" the veggies/fruit. Who knows if it actually works.

I used to just rinse with water, but since getting pregnant I've been using vinegar water to clean anything that won't be cooked or that will be peeled but a knife will slice through (such as potatoes, avocados, melon, etc.).
I actually wash them with dish soap. I figure that if it's safe enough for the dishes, it's safe enough for the food.
Im glad Im not the only one who does this.
I just put a couple of drops in a bowl filled with hot water (or whatever temp the food can handle) and use a little scrub brush to clean them.
This is especially important for citrus fruit if you're going to zest the peel. Most citrus fruits have a layer of food grade wax on them to make them shiny. You'll want to really scrub that off before zesty get the peel.
Man, even pregnant, I am super breezy about this. The only time veggies and fruits get washed is if my H is in the kitchen with me. He gives me a side eye if I don't. I play it pretty fast and loose with stuff like that.

Sprouts are a huge carrier of listeria. There was actually a bad outbreak earlier this summer and our grocery store stopped carrying them.

Yeah, it sucks. For months I've been craving a sandwich with tons of sprouts, but I just can't bring myself to take the risk.
When I'm being proactive, I will dunk them in a dilute vinegar water. Usually though, I only do that for really sandy things, like fresh basil. Mostly, I just run it under warm water.
Um I kind of half heartedly rinse it under lukewarm water. I trust our grocery store and we buy mostly local produce. It's probably still riddled with chemicals but I don't want to know.
I just wash with water. Vinegar is fine too, and is about the extent to which I would go. TJ wash may be fine too, but I don't know what's in it. I would definitely not use dish soap!
I'm confused by why people are confused. It's really not bizarre to put a drop of dish soap and some water on your hands and rub an apple. I mean, I don't care at all what other people do, but this is not weird. If it can wash your cups, why not your fruit? IMO, I'd rather have a bit of soap on my apple than the germs of ever farm worker, grocery store stocker, pesticide spray, and random shopper who fondled my fruit before I ate it. It takes all of 10 seconds.
And we all know farmers rub apples on their balls before sending them off to wherever. They don't wear gloves or use machinery AT ALL.
I bet some of these bitches don't lick the brownie/cookie dough spatula. Lol. That being said, i just use water, but i lick the spatula/spoon every damn time.
