DD is 4 and going to full day PreK 5 days a week. Give me an idea of what you are buying now and what you will buy as the weather gets cooler. Old Navy's website is calling my name with all these adorable outfits, but they are all fall. I am ready for leggings and boots!

Oh I am so happy my kids wear uniforms to school. I don't have to buy "back to school" clothes. I just have to buy the uniform items that they have outgrown.
I usually start at Gymboree for BTS shopping, then go over to Old Navy, Gap and TCP.
For DD 7 I will buy:
Tops -Short & Long Sleeved cotton tops in assorted colors & designs -Turtlenecks in assorted colors -Long duster sweater -Sweatshirts
Jeans -Skinny -Bootcut
Pants -Cords -Leggings -Sweatpants for gym
A few dresses
Outerwear (I usually take advantage of sales end of Winter/early spring, which I did this past season) -Down Vest (Got a great deal on Landsend.com) -North Face down coat -Pea coat -Fur vest -Denim jacket -Hoodies
New undies New socks New tights
Shoes -Nike sneakers -Vans slip on shoes -Patent leather black shoes for dress-up days -Colored flats -Brown knee high flat boots -Black knee high flat boots
DD is 4 and will be doing preschool 3 days a week. Right now we aren't going to buy anything. She has enough for current weather and then by the time it turns cooler I am guessing she will have shot up again. By the time we are ready to buy for the cooler weather it will be on sale/clearance
Do you buy that all now, as as the weather starts to change?
I usually buy it all now, that way I have it ready. I try to do 2 major shopping trips for the kids a year - once in September for Fall/Winter and then in March or April for Spring/Summer.

For DD who is 2, we need nothing. We have gotten so many girl clothes gifts and hand me downs, it is crazy.
DS will be doing one more year of preschool. We now no longer get hand me downs for him, as boys seems to wear out their clothes starting around age 3 or 4 from my experience. I bought 5 pairs of pants for him on clearance in the spring, so we will start with that and see how much he grows between now and November, before I buy more. He has plenty of tshirts to layer with, and 3 sweaters from last year that still fit. My mom picked up a bunch of socks and a few long sleeve shirts on clearance for him, so we are pretty much set. I am a clothing minimalist- they don't need more than 5 or so outfits, and no dressy stuff since we don't do church. I will need to get winter pjs but when I tried to buy some this week, they didn't have the heavy duty fleece ones out yet.

Oh, I will have to buy tights for Dd. does anyone have opinions on ll bean tights? I know Hanna is the gold standard but I don't want to spend that much.

DS is 3.5 and goes to PS. I usually dress him in t-shirts or polos in the warmer months, and a variety of solid colored shorts to mix and match. In the colder months I dress him in long sleeved tees and khakis. He has a pair of sneakers, a couple of pairs of sandals, and I will buy 1 pair of boots. I have a feeling little girls clothes is more complicated though!
