6 people for dinner on Saturday, what would you make?
Or, alternatively, where would you order food from?
We have one peanut allergy and a mild dairy intolerance, but they still eat dairy.
Since the people we host aren't fancy folk, we'd do barbecue pork and chicken, Napa salad/slaw, chips, veg tray, and something sweet. Or everything for tacos, chips and salsa, guac, and margaritas. After Christmas this week, I'd serve something completely different from regular Christmas fare.
I'd do something non-Christmassy like the taco bar pp mentioned, maybe enchiladas. Lasagna is good but might be too much cheese for someone who has a hard time with dairy.
Something grilled (teriyaki chicken, pork tenderloin, burgers) or a pulled meat in the crockpot. Roasted green beans or carrots. Roasted potato wedges. Baked spiced apples (2Tbsp brown sugar, 1/2tsp cinnamon, 1/4tsp nutmeg per 3 apples; cut apples into cubes; bake at 400 degrees for 5-10 minutes or until soft).
Or order Thai food. A couple of different curries, etc. Yum!
Saturday we're having 12, and will do enchiladas, tamales, steak fajitas, rice, and beans. For six I'd maybe just do fajitas with rice and beans. I love taco or fajita bars for people with dietary restrictions . It's great for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, lactose-intolerant, people watching calories, etc because people can pick or choose and build their own meal.
I'd probably do a cherry pork loin with noodles, spinach salad, and biscuits. Last time I had 6 it was the grandparents and I did a super casual chicken pot pie (Costco) and a salad.
I would get a crown roast. I'll probably cook one next week. Our local Scandinavian market has the best selection. I'm making prime rib on Christmas, but only because MIL insisted I cook a roast she purchased.
