The ILs will be the people to get DD from daycare if she needs to be picked up before the end of the day for whatever reason and they will be our back up for when she can't go to daycare. I know her infant seat can be strapped into the car with the seat belts and they don't need the base but they are talking about purchasing a car seat she can use now and grow into as a toddler.
I know next to noting about these and I'm pretty sure they know even less. Can you recommend something I can recommend to them? They'll be looking for a "deal" which makes me nervous as to what they would buy, so we're looking for something safe but not breaking the bank.
Will they be installing the seat every time she's in it, or will they always have it in the car? Installing rf convertible seats can be really challenging (depending on the seat, of course), so if they weren't going to leave it there full time I would push them to use the base/infant seat for as long as she fits.
I think they want to get one to install and leave there. I'm willing to buy them a base but they insist on getting something themselves.
They are a bit nuts. Went out and bought a PnP and even the formula we use to keep at their house. On one hand it's great to not have to bring much to go over there. On the other it's creepy how involved they are.
I think I'll buy them a base for now. She starts daycare on jan 5th but they will only need to get her if we can't so not often.

My mom and MIL are our emergency contacts for preschool and neither have carseats. Honestly never crossed my mind! (We actually have a carseat for my mom's car I just never installed it. Oops!)
They need to use what you tell them. They shouldn't have a choice. Carseat safety isn't something I mess with. And if you think a base will be easier now then too bad for them.
