I'm so sorry this is happening and happening now
Holy crap
C'mere, I have a bottle of wine with our name on it by the fireplace..
YASSSS! Mr. Wambam and I have been saving a bottle of our Biltmore wine for Christmas and I absolutely cannot wait to pop that cork.
The misdiagnosis was the stupidest thing ever. The computer systems went down that day and they mixed up my test sample with someone else's who was trying to check out of the office at the same time I was.
The other part of that story is when I called the nurse to ask how this was possible (since, ya know, Mr. Wambam and I have been together since we were 18 and have only been with each other) and the nurse proceeded to tell me "Well, men don't always tell the truth about their past." OMFG.

I hope you get some relief soon! I have had only one ovarian cyst, and it was awful, so I'm so sorry you've been through multiples! A friend was diagnosed Metformin to help with her PCOS, and ended up pregnant. So, uh, if you take that, be careful if you want to avoid that manger!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
My ladybit commiserating is of a different sort; I'm concerned that the reason TTCing hasn't been successful yet is that my luteal phase keeps checking in around 9-10ish days long, which is on the side of being too short. I'm waiting a few more months and collecting a few more months of data before I freak, but it is not super encouraging.
As to your issues, that is sucktastic, but on the slightly bright side I know a number of friends who have been able to manage PCOS pretty well. If that ends up being your dx, hopefully your doctor can help you get dx'ed and treated quickly, so you're off the 2 month-long-cycle train soon. That sounds super frustrating.
And all around, because hey, I'm not knocked up either.
Okay, not an "issue," but a funny ladybits story. Pre-H, I'd been seeing this guy I met online, and before we had sex, he wanted to both go for std tests. No problem. Except I'd moved there in the last year, and didn't have an OB, so it took me a while to get in and tested, and then the doctor didn't have an online test results portal. Quelle horror! This was 2007, btw, so not unusual. He took this delay to mean that I had something. Bizarre!
Anyway, I'd finally gotten in to see this doctor, chosen because he was the closest to my office, and he was this tiny, ancient guy, who when I said why I was there, proclaimed it unnecessary, since I didn't look like the kind of girl who'd get an STD. OMG!

No experience with PCOS, but metformin seems to be a godsend for this who have it.
I had a CT scan to check for kidney stones back in October. Only tiny stones, but the radiologist also noted a 3 cm ovarian cyst in the report. I don't think that's totally out of the norm, is it? Anywho, it doesn't bother me and I've been lazy about going to get it checked. This post reminds me I should get on that.

It isn't abnormal to have a cyst or two in a lifetime, but it doesn't hurt to get it checked out and monitored. Our ovaries are one of the most active sites in our female bodies, developing and churning out eggs each month. However, cysts can contain a bunch of "crap", that isn't lethal, but can cause serious pain and inflammation if they either sit the wrong way or rupture. I've been hospitalized a couple of times thanks to ruptured cysts, they've all be on my right ovary and every time one ruptures it mimics appendicitis. Whee. Every time I've gotten a pelvic ultrasound, the image specialists were like "oh, the one that blew was the size of an orange, but you have a couple more there that are around golf ball size".
The doctor never had you pursue further treatment after those scans? That sounds awful.
The doctor recommended I get the cyst checked, but you know, let me pencil that in to my schedule ASAP.
Eta: Thats awful in the sense that they would say that and not refer you for a solution.
Wow cysts sound sucktastic. I'm really sorry for those of you dealing with those. wambam holy shit! I would have punched that woman - and then gone back after they cleared it up and punched her again. and Mushe - holy crap that's hilarious!

I'm sorry, lady. I hope your experience turns out like my recent one - long story short I went for a routine annual check-up (...but after like 5 years because here the pill isn't Rx, so I always forget I'm still supposed to go see a doctor) that ended with me off the pill and getting hormones tested because there was a worry I might have missed the boat on kids at the ripe old age of 29. Luckily it looks like I'm fine - like, probably shouldn't wait til I'm 40 to start TTC, but there's no need to adjust our expected timeline of 1-2 years - and being off the pill has actually felt almost exactly the same as being on it, which I was worried about. So I'm sending my lucky vibes on over to you! (even though talking about "lucky vibes" in a ladybits thread sounds dirty)

Not uncommon, and if you don't know it's there (meaning, it isn't causing any issues, getting larger, rupturing), it's really nbd. I had one, and I had no clue it was there. When I was 21, I had a very large (like, the size of a small orange), benign, tumor on my left ovary. I had to have abdominal surgery to have it removed. ANYWAY, because of the history, my doctor basically puts the full weight of her body on my abdomen when doing my internal exam, so that she can really feel both ovaries. Last year, she felt something solid on my left ovary again, so she sent me in for tests. (I felt nothing. No pain. No issues.) Ultrasound showed a small cyst. The tech said it wasn't uncommon (especially for where I was in my cycle). She said lots of women have them and have no clue. They had me go back for a followup two weeks later, and it was gone.
My OB says I'm really boring (that's just her sense of humor). Easy pregnancy, no history of any abnormal cells, no cysts, all totally normal exams and I am very regular on and off BC. I get a lot of UTIs, that's about it.
I'm pretty sure I'm in for a hellish delivery to make up for this, karmically.

Cysts aren't a sign of PCOS though. A "string of pearls" (microcysts) on the ovaries can be a sign (or you can be like me and have that but no other indicators of PCOS). Sounds like you have something going on, but it just annoys me that so many OBs just slap PCOS on people and far too often they are dead wrong in part because they aren't even doing the proper tests. Met will do nothing but screw up your digestive system if you aren't insulin resistant. Make sure they ran the proper tests for that if that is suggested to you after they get done running all of the fun tests.
Mine is that as per usual we can't find an issue why I was birthing clots one month (and came close last month). No fibroids, no nothing going on. Apparently my uterus is just a whore. My OB did offer ablation as an option (since we are done with kids) but then I have to have some kind of birth control after and I hate all of the options. So birthing clots every 4 weeks it is I guess.

I have PCOS. I was diagnosed with it almost 7.5 years ago when we were trying to have a baby. I am guessing based on my medical history, I could have been diagnosed with it in high school. I know a couple people that have it and no two people have the same symptoms. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Fingers crossed for a Baby Derkins (the analogy is stretching, would that be Hobbes?) in 2015. Hugs to everyone who is having ladybit challenges.

EArlier this spring I had some sort of terrible pain that I knew was not a yeast infection but was some sort of infection--I truly cannot remember the details, I think maybe there was an actual rash, but I cannot recall. Anyway, the doc that I saw was CONVINCED it was an STD. She kept saying the same thing "I'm sorry to tell you this, but it is likely an STD." I was like "dude, listen, I have been with my husband since we were 15 years old. He is way too scared to cheat, and I know I sure didn't." and she wouldn't listen to me. I left in tears because she kept saying the results were going to come back as an STD and insinuating that my husband was cheating.
