Actually I think DH's cousins just don't lurk on TK enough. Or something.
6 months before is extremely early to get an invitation, right? We just got one for mid-May.
Also - Black Mountain, NC. Appears to be BFE (bride and groom are military, maybe stationed around there). Worth visiting?
I don't totally understand the "worth visiting" question -- I mean, are you asking if you should/would go there, as a destination in itself, aside from the wedding? I probably wouldn't. But it's a lovely part of North Carolina, and I wouldn't regret a weekend there for a wedding.

Will it be a destination wedding for most guests? Did they do save the dates? If most guests will need to travel & they didn't do save the dates I don't think it's totally out there.

yes I imagine it will be a destination for everyone.
It had a registry info card TAPED to the invitation
Okay so that makes sense with the 6 month notice. Are they expecting you to RSVP now or did they give a while to make a decision.
I can top this. I got an invite December 1st for a July wedding. There is no rsvp by date and the rsvp card did not have a stamp. There was an insert with a line "we will be registered at x and y. Your presence is enough of a present blah blah" Every piece of the invite made me scratch my head.
As far as that area, my cousin had a wedding around there last summer. I didn't make it though my family said it was a very nice area to spend a weekend.
I don't think there are military bases near there (but there are AF, Army, and Marine Corps bases in eastern NC), but west NCOS is gorgeous and generally worth the visit. Maybe they were splitting the difference between save-the-date and invitation??

Black Mountain is not BFE, IMO. It's very beautiful there. No military base. It's a small mountain town. Asheville is about 20 minutes away and definitely worth visiting. (We just moved from Asheville after living there for 7 years.)
My cousin got married last September near Asheville, NC. It's a great little town and I wish we would have had more time to explore it. The only thing we had time to do was having brunch downtown at Tupelo Honey Cafe, and walk around that area. Brunch was great!! Some other relatives went to Early Girl for brunch and said it was delicious there too.
All Marine Corp bases are eastern NC. The army base is in Fayetteville, which if the wedding was there, I'd be hesitant to encourage you to go. I spent 4 years of my life there, you're not missing anything. Black Rock on the other hand is in the mountains. The Asheville/BR area is really nice, maybe make a mini vacation out of with with your H. It's close to the Biltmore Estate, and they have a winery
