I can't really think of anything you can't get but there is so much that is cheaper. Cloth diapers, arms reach cosleeper, strollers. But I'm in the UK so maybe in Spain it's not as much of a price increase?
congrats! I bought a lot of stuff in the US but have come to realize that I can find most things elsewhere. the biggest difference is usually the prices and selection. if you have the luggage space, buy some clothes and things. maybe a nice diaper bag. buying a stroller would be a good deal, but it only doesn't count as a luggage item if you have the baby with you.
Are you planning a trip back once the baby is born? or are people coming to visit you? because then you could plan for just the first few months and think of other things later on.
Ha, yeah. After having 3 babies in 3 different countries I have a list of musts...
Sleep Sacks Aden & Anais muslin blankets and/or burp rags (great for swaddling) Green Soothie Pacifiers or the soothe attached to an animal (lets the baby find it easier to sleep!) Baby gadgets and toys -- always so much cheaper than in Europe -- not sure where you are currently living Anything personalized -- hard to find in Europe -- I always wanted a personalized baby knit beanie hat to bring baby home in -- Safety First baby nail clippers -- little white ones - like $1.29/each! But I could only find baby scissors to nail cutting in Europe! Diaper bag that HOOKS on to your stroller -- most diaper bags in Europe didn't have this option and I would have lost it if mine didn't hook on to the stroller handle bars for easy access -- it was like my purse for years!
Baby nail clippers are in Europe! Try a pharmacy. They are even in our equivalent of toys r us. tommee Tippee was the brand I got nearly 4 years ago but I see them all the time.
elenetxu- FELICIDADES!!!! (How do you say that en vasco?) OMG, I haven't been on this board in forever and ever and just popped in today on a whim. How exciting for you. When are you due? Tell me more or direct me to your announcement post. I'm so very, very happy for you!
Re: your question, I've found that everything baby-related is pricier in Europe than in the US, so it's a matter of prioritizing the priciest stuff like gear v. things that are only moderately cheaper in the US.
I totally missed the pregnancy announcement too! Congrats! The main things I would buy in the USA if you are normally in a non-English speaking country are books in English or things that talk and speak in English. I have a mother goose that recites tales and now a vtech thingie that is in english. I also buy clothes that are cheaper in the USA..they outgrow everything so quickly that it is a big waste for me to spend lots on young baby clothes!

Anyway, congratulations again!
Gracias! In Basque it would be zorionak. I'm due July 27th. We're excited. I've just started to get used to the news! My first ultrasound is next Thursday so we'll see how everything goes. I nearly fainted when they drew blood this morning. As a long time blood donor, that was a first!
We just got back to Spain and I didn't get much baby gear at all. I'll have to depend on Amazon or beg my parents to ship stuff over
