Hi all
My H went to Sturgis SD to the giant motorcycle rally to be amongst "his people" and had his first mc wreck in the 25 years he has been riding. Tore his hand up a bit, has some road rash and a few blood blisters.
Riding has always been his passion -- he has 5 MCs. It used to totally bug me and I worried all the time about it but if he gave it up (and he has over the years here and there) he is miserable.
Guess I'll just have to keep him in my prayers to have a safe trip home and we'll see where his head is when he gets here. What's a girl to do?
I have a hard time when H goes out on long rides, or goes to any sort of special event. I can't help but worry that something bad is going to happen, for obvious reasons. The best compromise we've come to is for him to check in with me every time they take a break. He sends me a quick update text to let me know where he is and that he's safe. It doesn't really help with the worry between texts, but it means I'm not worrying for three straight hours while he's out and about.
My h wiped out on his motorcycle once. We was only going 15 km/h, but he had road rash all up his leg, hip and shoulder. After that I worried about him every time he went out. if he got that beat up going that slow, I don't even want to think about what could have happened going 50-80 km/h.

Motorcycles terrify me. When I was growing up my Mom made me promise I would never get on one and Si never did. I'm trying to pass that fear onto J as awful as that sounds.

I have MH do the same thing. Makes me feel better.
i'm sorry. my h has finally decided to sell his motorcycle after some friends of ours were in a horrible accident. he sees motorcycle accident victims all the time at work, but it took seeing people we knew personally to change his mind. increase his life insurance and hope that this accident opened his eyes. you rarely get a second chance in even a minor motorcycle wreck.

Thanks all! He had a friend pass away many years ago who was, ironically, a motorcycle safety instructor so that had a huge impact on him. After about 5 years he dipped his toe back into the riding water and he's been into it big time for the last few years. I understand his passion for it... and know he is extremely safety conscious but its the other folks I worry about getting him
