I find the name to be a turn off for some irrational reason. Sorry. Seems rather "girly" or European to me. I doubt you will ever see it as a popular name.
I like that my sons name isn't too popular. My H thought it would be because it is a character in Narnia but it didn't catch on. I like the idea that most likely there won't be anyone else in his class with the same name.
I love your ds' name. I would consider it if it didn't sound so funny with my last name. I also agree that people are much safer with boys names. I wouldn't consider a top 10 name for dd, but. Wouldn't hesitate to use one with future hypothetical ds. I have no idea why.
I love that name and the rest of your kids' names. Everyone thinks DS' name is unique or formal, but it's just an old and rarely used name. Heck, we got it from a movie and found out later that it had a history/meaning. Ha. We lucked out.
I'm surprised with people really liking anglophile names these days (see eg aidan) that in the search for something more "unique" it hasn't started climbing.

I like Piers. It's different. But I also went with a name that is not well known. Auden Jerome is my son's name. He will suffer from misspellings his entire life.
I'll tell you why we chose Piers....I'm embarassed about the reason :-)
I wanted to name him Peter, DH wanted Patrick. DH and I watched religiously the first Celebrity Apprentice. Piers Morgan was the winner. Piers seemed like a good compromise plus we could pull it off because DH is English.
From now on when anyone wants a male name suggestion I'm going to throw it out there :-)
