Ooooh, so that was the reason for the cancel! Makes sense now. I lost a first cousin She is the only one in the area, and the only one with kids my kids' age. I engaged her calmly and she responded with nonsense, and then multiple posts about a new CFA opening, etc. I just couldn't do it anymore. My sister (gay) is her cousin, too...have some fucking respect.

Please tell me you did actually respond to her post.
I hate hate hate that people are coming out telling us that we are being closed minded for wanting to support the gay community and not thinking about how the "Christians" feel about it.

I didn't. I had her hidden and just saw it today. I don't want to stir shit up any more than i already do. She will never change her mind anyway.
Yes, I completely understand that.
I cannot wait for the day that their behavior will be shameful and disgusting even in their eyes (although I have no doubt that these people would've been the same people who were all for separate water fountains in the 50s).
I defriended a shitload of people - I was under 300 friends for the first time in forever, and today I friended a bunch of The Gayz from our agency picnic and I'm back up to 301. Out with the bad, in with the fabulous.

Jermys, I remember chatting with you about Chik-fil-a associating themselves with FoF and us boycotting them, and how people gave us "shit" about it on ML. We were so ahead of the game.

If I remember correctly from church, the verses are from a passage stating that Christians no longer have to abide by the Levitical law and can eat whatever they want, but that if what they eat causes someone else to stumble in their walk (I know, hokey, bear with me!), then they should abstain from that food. I took it as him thinking that maybe the delicious chirken wasn't worth alienating people who support gay marriage. This couple are big Christians, but they are the most liberal of that group of church-going friends, which is why it disappointed me to see the wife celebrating Support CFA day.
I would paraphrase this as a comment and praise his forward thinking-ness. All he can do is say "No, I was saying it to support CFA." and he'll look like an ass.

I admit I didn't really get pissed about it until the whole Support CFA Day nonsense. That was just so hateful to me.
me too. It wasn't about free speech or any of that bs. It was about going out of one's way to make another group feel slighted, and hated.
My friend posted an interesting article about it. I don't get all political on FB, but I'm veeerrry close to re-posting it:
Thanks for posting this. This is a great article. Someone posted it on my FB tonight, but I couldn't open it - must be getting slammed with traffic- and forgot about it until your post. I'm really glad you did, because it is terrific.
