Are pointed toe shoes pretty much the thing now?

I think they were really big for awhile, and are to some degree pretty classic (depending on the style and severity of the point). I think a slightly rounded pointed toe or an almond shaped toe is a pretty safe bet as far as standard, everyday shoes go.

I agree with bimbi. My exaggerated pointy toe pumps seem dated but a more subtle point is more classic. Almond is my forever favorite

I actually thought pointed toe shoes had lost popularity over the last year or two. I really know nothing about fashion but I haven't seen them as much as I used to.

I'm definitely seeing more pointed toes recently, but it still seems like it is the minority.

I broke my big toe about 1.5 years ago and still have some minor cartilage pain so I'm sticking with round or almond as long as I can get away with it.

I'm with Bimbi- pointies can be classic but almond toes are universally timeless.

Yes, they can be drastic and severe, but they are still hot, and if you check high-end new arrivals, they are still very much on-trend. If you shop carefully, you can find classic, comfortable points (heels or flats).
Personally, I haven't bought any almond-toed pumps for about 4 years, and the ones I do have are unused and cluttering up my closet. Right now I find points more elegant looking than almond or round toes, but that's just me.

I'm a huge fan of pointed (but not severely pointed) shoes as they lengthen my short legs. Round toes tend to give my legs a stumpy/cut off appearance.

Almond toes always seem mom-ish to me. For me, it's pointed toe or soft round toe/classic ballet flats. And I'm even a bit too picky when it comes to these. I absolutely must have toe cleavage. Any flat shoe without toe cleavage is again, to me, mom-ish/dowdy. I love the YS flats but man, they come up so far it's like you're wearing running socks.

I think pointed pumps are more in now. I still see platforms, however I think pointed pumps or non platform shoes are the trend now. I love pointed pumps, they look elegant and very classy.

I think (most)pointed toes are classic.

The severely exaggerated ones were in style in the mid-aughts, and those are the ones that can look dated.
