Reading the threads on this board has been extremely helpful. We leave the US on Wednesday for the UK, with our two dogs flying with us. My H was able to secure a flat/townhouse for us before he left to help us move so we could get an idea of storage/ furnishings. Based on that and the recommendations from the board, I feel like we are relatively well prepared to relocate.
All of the dog paperwork is as taken care of as it can be, but any last minute thoughts/ purchases/ needs we should consider before we leave?
Background: H's company is moving us to the UK, company paying all moving expenses, including relocating our dogs. We are moving some furniture/ purchasing some in the UK, kitchen items and linens coming air (some available in UK)/ rest coming sea. H has already set up electric/ cable/ water/ heat/ etc. While aware of the electric current difference between the UK and US, we are bringing electronics, but are allowed to replace all of these in the UK as part of our relocation allowance.
Basically, any thing I should think about grabbing before we leave? We've stocked up on rxs, certain toiletries, etc, but I want to double check!
Also, any kind of seasoning packets you like for comfort food. e.g. chili seasoning, the cheese packets for Kraft mac & cheese, Crystal Light... That kind of thing. They're easy to pack and nice to have when you want an easy taste of home.
What? As far as I can tell, tampon brands are pretty much the same here as in North America... unless there's some pumpkin spiced tampon no one's told me about.
I wouldn't bother stocking up on cold meds, again something you can get over the counter, but definitely grab a few packets of gravol if you use that. I second the deodorant as there are limited versions of the solid kind.
As for food, anything instant/processed you really love. I always take a handful of packets of the carnation instant breakfast anytime I'm back for a visit. And twizzlers. Lots and lots of twizzlers.

Oh. In Norway it's only OB (and a few shops sell basic Tampax). I guess the UK is more on board with the applicator.
Also after living in China, it comes out as a rote answer! I didn't even think about it before I typed it.
But I still say it's worth bringing a box along so you don't have to stress about it the first time you need it. Same with cold meds. You can get something locally, but when you're sick, you don't want to have to deal. Ditto for your first overseas period. There's enough adjusting to do without dealing with that in Month One.

I'm a dumbass and totally forgot you were in Norway. Yeah, I remember when I lived in Brazil it was pretty much just OB as well - no applicator, blech.

Yeah, UK has everything pretty much. And the cold meds over here rock - you can get codeine as part of them over the counter! The only thing I really bring back is deodorant as I like the stick type, but the spray deodorant words well too (I use both now). I like getting packets of onion soup mix and ranch dressing mix for cooking and dips/salad dressing.
I think Advil Cold and Sinus is better than anything I've found here so I stock up on that as well. And yes, packets of onion soup mix and ranch dressing is great for moments of homesickness! Kraft Mac and Cheese packets as well :-)
This sounds awful, but I always stocked up on junk food when I returned to the UK from the US. I was cool with UK toiletries etc, but random snacks I missed.
