Its tough to get back in the groove after being on vaca, but I was ready to get back into the office and tackle my inbox. We had a nice weekend - we decided to drive back from the cape on friday night and that ended up being a great decision. No traffic, kids slept while I drove (ie: no potty breaks), and we had the full weekend to re-adjust rather than wasting all of saturday packing/driving.
It was hectic, fun and exhausting! My family threw us (and two other couples) a baby shower in Chicago. I'm glad to be home, but not back to work. It's killing me to leave baby s at home. And now my mom can't watch him as much, so we have to find child care for two days a week. :-(
I had a rough start but it definitely went up. Friday evening sucked, but Saturday we had a really good day, my ILs cam into town with my wife's aunt who was visiting from Chicago, so we had a really nice brunch with them. We went to our friends' house in the evening (they live like 5 minutes from us) so I could use their treadmill and we could hang out. We ordered pizza and the boy fell asleep on their couch, we ended up staying up talking on their deck until 4am, ouch! Sunday he woke up pretty early, but I have a lovely wife who got up with him and let me sleep for another hour or so. She took a short nap on the couch late morning and then we headed to the fair and had an AWESOME time. I'm exhausted today, though, and wishing for one more day off (and a bit more sleep).

Definitely Monday morning blues. C has a presentation she has not completed and a dry run today...doesn't make for happy times for her. We have so much to discuss today, but this damn presentation (and her boss) will suck up our IM'ing time.
We definitely did not get as much done in either house as we wanted. However, somehow C got a paint roller in my hand...I rarely paint. BUT, we did finish painting the Kiddos' room so we can move their beds in now. We finally spent the night at the new house, it wasn't too bad (our bed has not been moved yet).
I wrote the daycare check this morning and it scared the bejeezus out of me...how are we going to afford daycare and a new house? So, I definitely have Monday blues.
having L home for the past 2 weekends and having her pick up the kids 4/5 days last week has made for a very happy me. I am getting a glimpse of post dissertation life and I like it. Live has been much more 50/50 - and some days MUCH more weighted on her side. Ahhhh.
I am posting here so in 2 weeks when she has been gone for 2 weekends in a row and is in the midst of a huge RFP, I remember what is to come!
I was ready to come back to work but only because the weekend was so nice, actually. Saturday we celebrated our anniversary by hanging out with some friends at a lake. It was fun to play in the water with JB and picnic in the sun. The Sunday I got up and started cleaning. When K woke up she ran on the treadmill and then when she was done it was my turn. We all ate lunch together and then when JB when down for a nap I ran errands. The rest of the evening was capped off just giggling on the couch and watching lazy Sunday type tv. It was all very nice.
Mostly hanging out at home and watching the Olympics. Saturday we took the cats to the vet (quite the undertaking) and went to a friend's birthday part in the evening. Sunday was hard as we did a home PG test and it was negative. It kind of killed the day.

I'm sorry. I owe you a message, but sending hugs right now.
Today is pretty middle of the road for me. I had tons more I wanted to do this weekend - unpack, make brussels sprouts pickles, make lavender simple syrup, unpack more, plan the craft room. But it was a nice relaxing weekend and the project I had lined up to work on this morning was engaging. Now things are dragging and I'm struggling to find enough focus to figure out what I need to do next. But there is a decaf iced coffee in my future, so that's exciting!
I had a really nice weekend visiting with my mom, and thankfully am now on vacation for the next couple of weeks dealing with the cross-country move. First vacation more than 3 days long I have had in 4 years, so I am very excited!
I have a lot of stuff to do to get ready to start grad school in the fall (expenses mostly, blah!) and S is still in California and starting to teach her 1st very own professor-of-record course as an associate today, so we've been on the phone a lot discussing that. She is nervous and I am very proud!
Always a bummer to come back from Madeline Island, but kind of on a high that all three kids ROCKED the trip. Couldn't have asked for better from them. It felt like a family vacation!
