Has anyone read this, about cutting wheat from your diet? I've heard good things about it from a few friends (who generally have a good understanding of health and fitness), and was thinking of getting it from the library to check it out. I'm not interested in weight loss really (well, 5 pounds would be nice), but more cleaner, healthier eating. Bread is definately my comfort food but I've noticed it also leaves me feeling sluggish and bloated sometimes.

I think everyone is different. I met with a nutritionist and am trying to follow a more plant based diet...whole grains, legumes, fruits and veggies, ect. However, a lot of people have good luck eating paleau which I believe limits carbs. I don't think it's a bad thing but I'd have a hard time giving up bread all together.
I tried to reserve it from the library but it's been 5 months and I'm still waiting. I went wheat free as part of healthy eating and I think it's just helped me avoid overindulging on high cal foods. I read some online stuff too and it's worth doing.
I haven't read the book, but I have started to limit the carbs that I eat and as much as I hate to admit it I have noticed positive results. I worked out regularly and watched what I ate, but the scale didn't really move. Now that I have limited the carbs I have lost about 10 lbs over 2-3 months. Don't get me wrong, I still love bread, but eat a serving ever couple of days rather than several times a day.
I am wheat free because I am allergic to it however....I can honestly say that I have never felt better. That said, to truly go wheat free is not an easy task. It is in everything ~ even in some rice! You will spend a lot of time reading labels...
I personally don't bother with the GF breads and such, as they really aren't worth the taste for the price, but be careful there too as they can't be truly "clean". (For example, gluten free, dairy free, soy free mac-n-cheese? Then what on earth is it? You will see a lot of this kind of stuff in the specialty sections at stores.)
I will say though, after the initial cravings for all things carb related passed, I don't miss it a bit. I do not even think about breads or sweets. Of all things that I crave now, it is veggies! I'll take that problem tho....
I have not read that but I gave up wheat a few years ago and felt great. There are plenty of substitutes, also.
I have since adopted a paleo lifestyle, which consists of meat/fish, lots of veggies, some fruits, and some nuts. So, no grains at all (not even rice), no legumes or beans or soy, and no dairy.
Everything is fresh and we try to buy organic/local as much as possible. I have NEVER felt better in my life. I have loads of energy, I sleep better and wake feeling rested, and all around feel awesome. Bonus - my tummy is never bloated.
If you are interested, it is worth a shot. Beware, however, if you eat a lot of packaged foods as you'll be doing LOTS of label reading since there is wheat is just about everything!
If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. - Bruce Lee
I read part of the book and enjoyed it. I have celiac so I can't eat wheat, but I truly believe that most people will benefit from cutting gluten out of their diets even if they're not celiac.
I also eat mostly primal, and feel amazing. it's so much easier to lose weight, I feel great, and I do have the occasional non-primal treat.
